Chinese dragon pictures
    The
Chinese dragon, product of a special spiritual culture. These chinese dragons combine features from many different animals, including the body of a snake, and elements of fish, birds, and mammals. One of the  auspicious animals, the ancient Chinese dragon's exalted status has had a significant influence on the daily lives and culture of the Chinese for the past 5000 years.

From ancient times, the Imperial dragons / Japanese dragons was the emblem of the Imperial family, and until the founding of the republic (1911) the Chinese dragon pictures adorned the Chinese flag. The dragon came to Japan with much of the rest of Chinese culture, and there (Japanese dragons as ryu or tatsu) it became capable of changing its size at will, even to the point of becoming invisible. Both Chinese dragon and Japanese dragons, though regarded as powers of the air, are usually wingless. They are among the deified forces of nature in Taoism
