On July 4, 2004 my daughter and I were featured in an article in our local newspaper. We are both so touched by the responses we got that I felt it needed mentioning here:
There were numerous checks from people in Springfield and surrounding areas that came in the mail; to which Ayla and I enjoyed sending
personalized thank you notes to.A very kind gentleman by the name of Michael O'Brien "passed around the hat" at his Fourth of July
party and came by personally to hand Ayla an envelope of $153. We have since met the rest of his family and have become quick friends. He
even invited Ayla and I to his Fourth of July celebration next year. He has continued to sell the lights and it is because of him that we
are now 40 lights towards a second bike!Andy Ede of Mass Mutual was so touched by the article that he took up donations from co-workers and managed to raise $660 towards
Ayla's bike; which he personally presented to Ayla, along with a goody bag just for her.
It is because of these responses that we have almost reached our goal, as you can see on the Progress page. We are very excited as
we work towards another bike that will be donated to a child.
