Zoidian times. I'm sure a lot of us fic writers scream and cuss and
want to pull our hair out over the fact that we see essentially NOTHING detailing Zi's
original culture, in the show. Sure, Fiona has cryptic flashbacks, and sure, we get a
glimpse into the (obviously well-developed!) Eveopolis, the ancient city built around the
Zoid Eve. But .. waitasec. Something's not adding up. High-tech city .. obviously attuned
people (the Zoidians) .. Organoids that never got much explanation (poor Dr. D tried!) ..
and ancient ruins. Think about this for a second. Thought about it? Good. Now think about all what I'm going to say. This is a show/fic-tying explanation that I a) hope makes sense and b) hope isn't pure, mindless drivel. I seem to concoct that alot. I'll be frank .. I'm not very skilled with presenting my thoughts in an organized manner. I TRY, but my thinking tends to .. wad up, in transition between brain and text. |
|
| To get on with the show, though --
I'll begin with a rather brash statement: I believe that the Zoidians were a VERY
religious people. Gaaasssp. What's the hell's wrong with me, you say? I don't know .. but, in serious (and far too much so) thought given the subject, the base conflict of Long Ago on Zi -- what else do you think it would've come from? Take a look at any real history book. And tell me how much conflict's arisen from basal religious differentials, over the past 2000 years. A lot, huh? Most all of them, huh? |
|
| If conflict didn't rise from a
religious rift directly, it arose from someone's (ruler, king, dictator) base values,
which -- gasp! Usually come from religion. And even if said figure was a staunch atheist,
that fact would automatically put him/her at odds with a large chunk of society. Everyone
believes in "something" (be it evolution, entropy, or a god), and that directly
influences their behavior. If you don't know what I'm talking about, ask a psychologist or
read psychology books. Or just THINK about it. Thiiiiinnnnnkkkkkk..... *cough.* BUT. In the case of our dubiously-regarded Zoidian ideas, one would conclude that Zoids didn't just magically appear as gun-toting-weapons-of-destruction. Politics and religion (church and state, in other words) were very closely tied, simply because "spiritual" aspects and such were such an integral, and undeniable part of every Zoidian's life. They didn't doubt their faith, per se -- their "God" was Zoid Eve, something they could openly see and revere. Regardless of standpoint or "denomination" (which of course variations of Eve's regard existed. Several variations included "Eve's Children" as part of worship, special chosen ones -- messiahs, of sorts -- that heralded events, be they good or bad.), everyone knew that Zoids' lifeforce -- and thus their own and their Organoids'-- came from Zoid Eve. Disrespect never came into the equation. Now, let me try to make this make .. some .. sense... |

On Zoidian Ruins in General.
Hmm. The Zoidians' culture seemed VERY earthy, despite its technological slant? You can't
look at Eveopolis and tell me that's not a modern city. Yet, in the context of the show,
all the ruins constantly discovered/excavated were referred to in a "present"
sort of tense. Events seem to indicate that the original Death Saurer's (in Zoidian
times') fall was near-concurrent with the "Sleep" that the Zoidians were forced
to go into. |

| The
Overall Relation Between Zoids, Zoidians, & Organoids (the
Trinity, the Elements) If you're familiar with Biblical concepts, this will be clear as clear to you as being slapped upside the head with a trout. If not, you need to research the subject 'cause I'm not going to explain it to its entirety. Only how it applies. Basically, the "temple of God" (and the body) are made up of a 'trinity'. Mind, Body, Spirit -- God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit. (I'm not being blasphemous. I'm just using what I've unwillingly learned constructively. *quirk of brow*) Likewise, we've got a literal trinity, of Zoidian, Zoid, and Organoid, each Mind (Zoidian -- pilot), Body (Zoid), and Spirit (Organoid.) As a unit, the tri-bond is a force to be reckoned with. It's harmonious, it's euphoric, it's just plain good. To investigate each of these aspects in brief.. |
|
| Zoidian: Naturally
empathic, able to communicate telepathically with Zoids or Organoids. All Zoidians had an
Organoid. Organoid: Also empathic, these creatures are highly intellgent, combining sentience with extreme computational capacity. Organoids, when born, bond with a Zoidian for life. Though they can communicate freely between themselves and other Zoidians, their bonds, emotions, and ties will be strongest to their chosen bondmate and related family. (Thus in a household setting, each individual Organoid will be as "family" whether related or not. Though, in-family, the Organoids usually are) The Zoid Eve, depending on circumstance, either bears live, mature Organoids or lets the Organoids reproduce, themselves (they lay eggs.) A marked ability is their capability to fuse with a Zoid. Increases in power and awareness come from forced-harmony, as a Zoid naturally responds to the Organoids' symbiotic fulfillment. Zoid: Not as sentient as Zoidians or Organoids, but posessing a consciousness all the same. They are more stimulus/response driven than anything, but evolved forms have increased sensitivity due to the "growth" of their own elemental power. Zoid Cores utilize a complex system of binary genetic data, Zoids of like kinds having similar "codes". Like Organoids, Zoids (which start as Cores and "grow") can either be borne live by the Zoid Eve itself, or can independently reproduce. (Zoids in Chaotic and New Century were, for the most part, man-made replicas of the original creatures. Only Wild Zoids can reproduce. Manufactured ones are inherently more mechanical in nature, and cannot.) That explained, consider the following in regard of.. |
|
| The
Death Saurer. Why a people would make something capable of
wiping them out, I don't think anyone'll ever know. (We humans wouldn't know anything
about that .. ever-potential nuclear holocaust aside.) While the Zoidians were
religious and for the most part, agreed, sect differences did arise. They were minor, at
first. But to recap an important part what Fiona and the Dark Kaiser stated during the
Final 4.. "The Ancient Zoidians used the Zoid Eve to produce many Zoid cores, and by using those Zoids, we were able to create a world of limitless prosperity and potential." When the people weren't fighting, things were good. A bunch of symbiotic creatures running around in a society consisting of nothing but can't have much trouble, right? Things were good. "However, there were those ancient Zoidians that began to use Zoids as weapons in their meaningless power struggles--" Various religious groups, for one reason or another coming into the belief that their ideals were superior, started to further once-tiny rifts in every society. Things started to become hostile. What made the Zoidians spiritual also made them proud. Sects formed, in which individuals focused on the darker aspects of their natures, Organoids, and Zoids -- realizing, how well the creatures took to violence. (Three points to whoever guesses who originally was part of this movement. *cough*) > These Zoids and Organoids "grew" rapidly, into a mature and genetic potential that was far superior to those more passive. "--these Zoids became so adept at combat because they discovered their true, warrior natures that they continued to fight each other even without any objectives. In order to put an end to the battles that were going on, the Ancient Zoidian scientists created [the] Death Saurer." Harmony was thrown aside and made way for near-genocidal slaughter. The extremists, those who'd grown into and along with the power of their Zoids' aggressions, were growing in number. Because of the sheer emotional force that went into this, the Zoid Eve only fueled these uprisings. Eve had no sense of right or wrong. It/She responded only to power, whether for good or bad. Denominations divided, and unity shattered; desperate to stop the increasing bloodshed, many called upon (read: prayed to) Eve for help. Between its power and the smarts of the "scientists", the Death Saurer was created. It was what the people'd wanted, too -- an objective creature, without interfering taint from a "polluted" Zoid, Zoidian, or Organoid. It was the ultimate act of spite, to those wanting to control it. "But that was the biggest mistake [the Zoidians] made. The Death Saurer wiped out all the civilizations [on the] planet, and anhilliated most of the Ancient Zoidian population." Mistake indeed. The Zoid Eve had given them exactly what they'd wanted -- a "Zoid" free from all outside influence. They forgot something important, though -- this made the thing of its own free will, uncontrollable. The Death Saurer had all three Trinity "elements". It saw which of its brethren -- the more aggressive -- were superior -- determined alone, what to do -- and that's when it all quite literally went to Hell, for the Zoidians. Make sense? Now, there's also the whole deal with the Death Stinger and how "it" was able to defeat the Death Saurer .. but that, is actually detailed out in my fic The Element of One, annnd I don't feel the need to write it out again, here. BUT! On that tangent.. Death Stinger(s)? It
seems wholly unclear in the show just how many Death Stinger(s) there were. Hiltz's
statements actually openly conflict, and various ideas/hints given throughout the show
don't help. I'm under the impression that there *was* one Death Stinger -- it was split
into two -- then put back together again. |
|
| Again, more detail on THAT is
actually in tEoO, and I don't feel like repeating it all. Put shortly, it does involve my
semi-non-show Organoids (Zero and One (Führer), respectively, but in a very incorporatory
manner that, personally, I don't think conflicts with the show at all.) *points nonchalantly to the pic @ right* Entertain for a moment that Fiona was wrong -- that the saurian in the middle in fact was not the Death Saurer, but Führer. One. Laalalaala.... *cough* In brief, Führer -- the Berserk Fury's Organoid -- was the key to splitting/stopping the original Death Stinger, which'd attempted to join the Death Saurer in power. Führer could do this because it possessed not one, but two of the Trinity "elements" -- it used that "leverage" of its Zoid element to split the original Death Stinger's Core into two, more-controllable ones. This wasn't without a price .. ..but really long story made really short, it worked, and the two modified, Zoidian-directed Death Stingers (the modified pair, thus, of "ultra-vicious scorpion type Zoids") were able to defeat the Death Saurer. Also not without a price .. buuut ... ..we all know who put the two Cores back together, now don't we?

Disclaimer: Though I've devoted far too much
thought to this all, I don't own Zoids®. Hasbro and Tomy do. This does not, however, mean
that I want the above compilation splattered everywhere online (in whole OR in part). DO
NOT copy this and paste it somewhere else without my consent.
