I get on board the virtual ship:
it sails the virtual seas.
My local bus, at half-past eight,
goes to the pyrenees.
I do not need an aeroplane, I do
not have the stress
When I go from here to Lima on
the digital express.
I tour through France and Italy;
I do it all in style
I get this near and close
up to Mona Lisa's smile.
I marvel at the pyramids, I stand
on Everest,
I visit all the planets, but
Earth is still the best.
The hands across the world reach
out from every hearth,
A million tongues say
"Hello" to the other side of Earth.
Cables with electrons cut right
through every sham,
The passed-by-people of the world
stand up with "Here I am!"
Goodbye to walls and barriers and
all that might divide.
There really is no difference
upon the other side.
But for the virtual traveller,
all that he meets are kin,
And all the voices shout out,
"You're welcome, come on in!" |
