This cleric, named Arislaand Garerion or Ari, was the first Cleric of Paladine to appear after the Cataclysm. While the canon story states that Elistan was the first man to re-embrace the worship of Paladine, in the continuity Ari was created in the Companions of the Lance did not exist as they are known in their canon form.
To explain further Tanis Half-Elven is dead as are Sturm Brightblade and Flint Fireforge. Tasselhoff Burrfoot is believed to be dead, but let's face it, this is Taz we're talking about. Raistlin Majere never donned the Red Robes instead going straight to the Black where upon he immediately broke from the Conclave and claimed the Tower of Palanthas. He also went into the service of Takhisis as the leader of all her dragon armies. Caramon, who followed Raistlin after the test became the general. Kitiara soon joined as leader of the Blue Dragon Army. Laurana and Glithanas never left Qualinost. Riverwind never left Que-shu on his journey and both he and Goldmoon died there.
It is also important to know that this campaign was meant to be a high powered game and as such there were certain house rules, especially concerning feats. The players and DM agreed to change the feat progression from one feat every three levels to one feat every third level and every second level. Or, to put it more clearly, a feat was gained at levels, 1, 3, 5, 8, 10, 13, 15, 18, and 20. This gave players two more feats overall
In addition several supplemental books written for the D20 system were used. The chief among those is Arcana Unearthed which was published by WOTC as a supplemental Player's Handbook much like the Skills and Powers book was for 2nd edition AD&D. This is where the Cloistered Cleric and the Human Paragon classes are located. Other heavily used books are the AEG's Feats and Mongoose Publishing's Quintessential Paladin. Feats is where most of the feats on Ari's character sheet are located and Quintessential Paladin is where the Demon Hunter prestige class can be found.
