What the bloody hell is Josta?
Josta was a drink that Pepsi started making in 1995. (Not that it said anywhere on the label that it was a Pepsi product.) It contained Guarana berries from Brazil. AKA: Caffeine berries. These things are PURE CAFFEINE...and Josta was just full of them. Josta had even more caffeine than Mountain Dew. It was the most addictive thing I've ever experienced in my life. (Except, maybe, Perfect Dark...MAYBE.) It was also the only reason I survived high school.
Why Josta?
Aside from the obvious buzz? It had this great fruity kick. It wasn't just red pop. It wasn't a "Oh, I'm a happy strawberry pop, drink me!" taste. It was a "I'm full of guarana and you know you want it. (wink, wink)" taste.
What happened to Josta?
Pepsi (the Anti-Christ) took Josta off the market in 1999. Why?? Why?? For the love of all that is sacred, WHY?? They say it wasn't popular enough. Yeah, right. It ONLY had a huge cult following. I think it's some huge conspiracy to make the youth of the world bitter and unhappy. (Shut up, it is!)
Josta Withdrawal...
Half a decade later...and I STILL go through Josta withdrawal. (Hence...the creation of this page.) Bristol summed it up pretty well when she said "You get the Josta taste in the back of your throat and you get sort of twitchy because you want it so badly." There's a chanting that goes with it that just goes on and on..."Josta...Josta...Josta...Josta"...and it drowns out all rational though...and the only thing you can think is "I need Josta." And what can we do? It's not like we can run down to QD and get some, now is it? Damn Pepsi! Damn you for introducing us to this wonderful liquid drug and then savagely taking it away!
