A "Little" Problem

Author’s notes: This is my first Princess Tutu fic and the first fic I write in English (English is not my main language, sorry,  forgive my grammar mistakes)

This fic is set after the anime but although Ahiru can’t turn into Tutu anymore, she is still a girl.

The Firebird is a beautiful ballet composed by Stravinsky in 1910. You can find more info about it hereà http://www.danceit.org/firebird.html

This is just a little warning, I love waff and Fakir and Ahiru.^.~

Disclaimer: Sadly, I don’t own Princess Tutu. ;_;

Chapter 1

A new day had begun in Kinkan town. It was still early and only the soft sound of bird chirping disturbed the calmness.  It was all so quiet….

‘Well…Not so quiet.’ Fakir thought with a frown. He was still in his bed when he heard someone crying…

“Man…Uzura, be quiet!! I want to sleep, you know. We have an important rehearsal today at school and I hardly slept at all tonight. It’s still 6 a.m for crying out loud!”

Suddenly Fakir noted something in his bed.

“Quiet-zura? Uzura isn’t crying” Uzura yelled at the top of her lungs staring at Fakir from under his sheet. Fakir almost had a heart attack.

“You’re going to kill me, Uzura. Get out of my bed! Wait a moment…Then, who’s crying?” Fakir got up and followed the cries. They were coming from the door. He went there and found a basket with a little something inside. It was a baby covered in some rags and there was a note beside him. Fakir took the note and paled.

Please, take care of my baby. I don’t have enough money to support him. I don’t think I’ll be back for my child so treat him as your own. Thanks.

And that was all.

‘This can’t be happening, now what do I do? Think Fakir, there must be a solution…It’s settled, I’ll let the basket at the neighbour’s door…’

“Be careful, darling” Fakir heard the woman next-door saying farewell to her husband.

‘Damn it, they are already awake!’ Fakir took the baby in his arms trying to calm him down.

“Shh, stop crying, please! All this crying is going to wake up the whole neighbourhood.” He cradled the baby back and forth in a futile attempt to put him to sleep.

“Who is this child-zura? Is he yours, Fakir? Children are the product of  rabu-rabu-zura!! That’s what I heard, is that true??” The drum sound was getting on Fakir’s nerves.

Fakir put the baby on his bed and lay alongside him.

“I’ll have to skip my lessons today, I can’t let you all by yourself.” He sighed. The baby smiled at him in a cute way and Fakir poked him. “I will tell Neko-sensei I caught the measles or something and have to stay at home for a while. I must talk with Charon, he will know what to do.” Before realizing it, the baby fell asleep.

In another town, not too far from Kinkan Rue and Mytho were having some tea in their lovely new house. They were living together and ran their own ballet academy. They would get married soon.

“I don’t want you to go, Rue. We have lots of students this year and one person can’t teach so many people.”

“But I can’t help it, we owe a lot to Neko-sensei and he asked us for help. We can’t close the academy so I’ll go and you’ll stay here. Fakir is good enough to perform as the main character but Neko-sensei told me the Fire Bird is a difficult role and there isn’t any suitable girl to play it among his students.”

Mytho sighed. “Ok, do as you wish. But I’ll miss you.”

Rue smiled softly and held her pince. “It’s okay…I’ll come back soon”

Ahiru, Pike and Lillie were having lunch outdoors. They were exhausted after their lesson with Neko-sensei, especially Ahiru.

“Neko-sensei made me repeat that step at least 20 times, he said I’m not graceful enough to use en pointe shoes yet. How mean!” Ahiru sulked

“What are you talking about, Ahiru? You will never be able to use them, you’re soooo clumsy” Lillie laughed.

“I wonder what happened to Fakir-sama” said Pike a bit worried “He never skips his lessons...Today there was a rehearsal for The Fire Bird and he had gotten Ivan, the main role. I heard Neko-sensei wanted Mytho and Rue to perform but Mytho is busy. He’s working in some ballet projects in the new academy he and Rue opened in a neighbour town but I think she will perform. I don’t think there is another girl as good as Rue in Kinkan and the Fire Bird is a difficult role. Anyway Fakir will make a perfect Ivan.” Pike’s eyes shone and she giggled.

“It’s weird, ne? Fakir is always so reliable”

“Maybe he had an accident...yes, that would be wonderful...” Lillie’s eyes sparkled

Ahiru sweatdropped. ‘I think I heard someone saying he’s sick. Anyway I’ll pay him a visit’

Ahiru took her things and exited the academy. She bought some medicine for Fakir on her way. “I’m sure he’s pushing himself even in his condition...’

Fakir was desperated. He never thought taking care of a baby was so complicated, why did he have to cry so much? He felt tired and had a headache.

“I have fed you already, why are you still crying?!” Then he heard a knock on the door.

“Damn it, I have to hide the baby. God knows what people could think if someone sees me like this...’

Fakir put the baby in the basket and hide it behind a curtain.

Ahiru went in.

“Fakir! What are you doing out of bed? Look at you, you are pale and look sick. You even have circles under your eyes.’ Ahiru shoved Fakir to his bed and he pretended to cough to hide the baby’s cries.

‘Why did she have to appear now? I must be the unluckiest man alive...’

“What...*cough* are you doing... *cough* *cough*... here?” Fakir tried to sound angered but deep inside he felt a bit happy.  She was worried about him.

“Mou, you don’t have to be so rude. I came to check on you since you missed the rehearsal. Rue-chan was a bit angry, you two are the main characters and she can’t practice most of her parts without you. I didn’t know you were going to play the Fire Bird. I envy you two a bit. I’m glad I came because you look bad. Have you taken some medicine?” Ahiru seated on his bed and Fakir blushed a bit.

“No, but it’s none of your business. I’ll get better, you can leave.”

“I can’t leave you alone like that. You must have a fever” Ahiru touched his forehead with hers and that made Fakir blush even more.

“B-baka! What are you doing?”

She rolled her sleeves and took the medicine she has bought for Fakir.

“Here, take some medicine... Where do you keep the spoons?”

“I-In the kitchen cupboard”

Ahiru was on her way but... “This room is too dark Fakir, I’ll draw the curtains a bit”

“No! Wait!!” Fakir cried

Too late.
