Name: Zana
Pronunciation: zaw-nuh
Species: Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphin
Gender: Female
Bith date: 6/17/2003
Birth place: SWC
Mother: Steime
Father: Stein
She is the youngest of the 4 baby dolphins born the summer of 2003. She came out to
RPP at 9 months old. At that point she was not eating fish so it was a great chance to get
to know her. Back then she was very cautious and would not come all the way up. Now
that she is older she comes all the way up and she now even opens her mouth for water
squirts. This dolphin is a sweetheart. She loves people and loves to interact. She acts the
total opposite of how her older sister, Daphne, acted in her first few years at RPP. Zana is
a very outgoing little dolphin. Daphne was very shy, and getting her up was a treat
(Daphne has since grown out of her shyness). But Zana's personality was not what I was
expecting from a Steime calf, because Steime herself is rather shy. Zana spends a lot of her time with the other juveniles in the pool. Her best friend seems to be Venus, but she spends a lot of time with Nitro as well. This probably has to do with them being together since birth.
Physical description: She is very light and chubby. She has a very round melon. The lower part of her rostrum sticks out over the bottom part, much like her mother's and her sister's. The three look incredibly alike.
Dolphin you may be most likely to confuse her with: Daphne, they definitely look like sisters.
