She came out to RPP on 4/26/2005 at 9 months old.

My report from her first week out at RPP: 5/2/2005
Venus and Cometta are now at RPP. Venus was born in July of last year so she's only 9 months old (the same age Zana and Nitro were when they came out to RPP). Cometta came up right away. It scared me because I wasn't expecting her. Venus was off playing with Zana. The two get along very well. Cometta came up a lot and stayed for long rubs Venus is very independent. She spent all morning away from Cometta. But she still nurses a lot. She doesn't come over to the wall yet. During public feeding times she would actually come up a little, the same way Zana and Nitro would. Just enough to touch her rostrum. But because they have a feeding area that people who don't feed can't get to I wasn't able to interact with her during feeding time like I used to with Zana and Nitro (that was before they had a feeding area). She does interact though without actually coming over. I spent an hour squirting her. She loved it and even opened her mouth after a while to catch the water. I think she saw all the other dolphins do it so she copied. Also I was able to touch the tip of her rostrum once while Cometta was up (that was after the hour I spent squirting her). Venus is seriously one of the cutest baby dolphins I have ever seen. I thought Zana was cute but Venus is so much cuter. She has the long, thin head and rostrum just like her mother. She looks a little like a dark Corona (her sister) but she's even cuter than her. Anyone that can go see her really should. She'll probably even start interacting in the next few weeks. The trainers said she was coming up really well in the back, she just needs to get used to the place.

My report after her second week out at RPP: 5/9/2005
Venus now comes up for pets! She's co cute. She won't come all the way up like the other dolphins, but I'm at least able to pet up to her melon. She's adjusting really quickly. She even comes up to the viewing window. I didn't have anything for her to look at but she loved my camera, which was great for pictures.

Later: She now eats during feeding times. She still loves to play, when it's not feeding time that is. She can be seen interacting with guests for long periods of time. Cometta is protective of her, and if she doesn't know who you are she may not let her baby stay up with you to long. Once Cometta has had enough of Venus playing with the park guests she quickly comes by and swoops the calf away, and they swim off.

Now:
She is now weaned from her mother. She has never grown out of her interactive stage. She continues to play the part of the most interactive dolphin in the pool. She has probably been the most interactive dolphin ever to be at RPP. She will play with anyone.

This is a cute story from the last time I saw Cometta and Venus together. I think this really shows how trusting Cometta was of me with her calf.
The last time I went Cometta did the cutest thing. I had been on the wall for about 10 minutes and Venus had not come over yet. She was sticking very close to Cometta. This was a rare thing for her. She usually comes right up. Finally Cometta comes up to me and Venus comes up with her. Cometta stayed for no more than 5 seconds (just enough for a quick pat) but Venus stayed. Cometta then went and slept by the viewing window (I'm directly to the right of her) for 20 minutes, while Venus stayed and played. When she was done she came back for Venus. I think she brought Venus over to me.

Physical description: She is the smallest dolphin in the pool. She is a smaller version of her mother. The two have identical faces, long and thin. Plus, she looks exactly like Corona, who is also the spitting image of her mother.

Dolphin you may be most likely to confuse her with: Any of the other juveniles. She has a thinner melon and rostrum (spitting image of her mother and sister). She is about the same size as all the other kids as well. She has a darker color to her. If she's playing with you it is probably her (unless it's Captain, who is obvious).
