Ulises (ID#SWC-OO-9426)
male orca
Captured in November 1980 from Iceland
transports: After capture he lived in Iceland until December 1981, then was moved to Riolen Safari Park, Spain. He stayed there until he was moved to Barcelona, Spain in 1983 where he shared a tank with bottlenose dolphins. He lived there until February 1994 when he was transported to Sea World California.
He is currently the largest killer whale at SWC.
length: 20.3 feet
height: about 9,200 lbs
Sea World got Ulises expecting to breed him, but since his arrival at SWC in 1994 he has produced 0 calves.

He can be a very interactive orca, as long as you catch him at the right time. Mornings are great for him. There is almost no time I went in the morning that he was not willing to interact. He will come up during the day as well if a lot of the other orcas are interacting.
So you can recognize him:
He is the only large bull orca in the pool. He has huge pectoral flippers. His flukes also curl. His dorsal fin bends to the right (that is if your looking at it from behind) a little higher than half way. This makes him a lot easier to recognize because at this point he is the only one at SWC with a really bent dorsal fin.

He does not get along well Corky and the 2 aren't kept together. The only time you will see them together is when the trainers get all the orcas together for a picture.
