He seems to really like Corky, and they swim in the mother/calf position a lot. While Bjossa was alive, he took a liking for her and used to swim in the mother/calf position with her as well. He loves to play with Keet, Splash and Nakai. Takara used to be a playing buddy as well, but is busy with her new calf now. He gets along pretty well with almost every orca at SWC, and all the trainers as well. He is just a loveable little guy, but with that, face how is it possible not to love him? He also plays with guests a lot, but enjoys playing with the other whales more. If there is another whale in the pool with him, which there usually always is, Sumar will be playing with him/her. When it was open he used to really like the wading pool, and you could find him playing with the guests frequently in there. Even when people thought it was to cold to go in, Sumar would stick around waiting for someone. Sumar is still small. For a few years, he just seemed to not grow. He is the third smallest in the pool, only being larger than the 2 calves.
Length: about 14.5 feet
Weight: about 2,900 lbs

At age 4 months, Sumar was separated from Taima due to repeated aggression. Sumar was Taima's first calf, so it was thought she was maybe just a bad first time mother, but she had shown repeated aggression towards her second calf, Tekoa, as well. To keep Taima from having anymore calves, due to her aggression, she is kept on birth control. At 10 months was flown to Sea World California along with Keto. After spending a little more than a year in California, he was moved to Sea World Ohio along with Keet and Keto. He was finally moved to SWC from SWO on Feb 18, 2001 along with Keet who was taken on Feb 15, 2001, his other tank mate at SWO, Keto was taken to SWT.
He is easy to recognize because he is the small whale that is not the smallest. His dorsal fin leans a little to the left.
