Mother: Kandu V (deceased, capt: 10/1977 d: 8/1989)
Father: Orky II (deceased, capt: 4/1968 d: 9/26/1988)
half sister: Kayla (SWT, b: 11/26/1988), who shares the same father. Kayla is also an orphan, her mother Kenau died on 8/6/1991.
niece: Halyn (SWT, b: 10/9/05) mother Kayla
Orkid is known for being an extremely intelligent whale.
Orkid was named after her father Orky. Orkid means Orky's kid. Her father died 3 days after she was born. He was a pacific Killer whale. Orkid's mother, Kandu, died when she was only 11 months old. She hurt herself when trying to attack Corky (SWC). Her mother was an Atlantic killer whale.
She is a cross between Atlantic and Pacific Killer whales. In the wild Orky and Kandu would never have met.
She has been an orphan since she was 11 months old. However, thanks to Corky (SWC), who played her surrogate mother, she has not really been an orphan.


Orkid is not an interactive whale. It is very rare to see her up at the acrylic watching and playing with guests.
Orkid is only slightly smaller than Corky, making her the third largest in the tank.

Orkid is a beautiful orca. She has very few rake marks, and a straight dorsal. Her dorsal fin is not bent but when she swims at top speed and when she surfaces it gets a little wobbly. She has no rake marks except on her dorsal fin where Keto (SWT) marked it up while he was in CA. She has a very round head.
