Steime had her calf at 1:28 AM on May 11, 2007. Steime was AIed. They are already saying that the calf is a female.
Purina was with Steime when she gave birth. Today they introduced Bullet and Corona into the mix. Corona was being sort of annoying to Steime. She was very interested in the calf and would often get Steime and the baby to speed swim trying to get away from her. Also, Corona actually got in between Steime and the baby a few times.
I went back to the stadium at about 11:00 so I could get front row seats when they opened the stadium for the presentation. After the first presentation they allowed people to stay in the stadium. I was glad. I watched the baby from 11:00-1:00. I saw 2 baby presentations. One at 11:30 and one at 12:30. They were about 15 minutes long. Steime is so cute with the baby. She plays with it a lot more than I've ever seen other moms play. she also allows her to independent. The baby swam off quite a few times. Steime often pushed the baby around by her flukes. Steime once had the baby completely out of the water when she lifted it up on her belly. I actually saw Sandy do the same thing to Sophie when she was a newborn. It's really the cutest thing. I saw a lot of nursing. Steime often brought the baby really close to the glass when she nursed.

Steime and the calf have been introduced to all of the female dolphins in the show (Melanie, Bullet, Purina, Corona, and Malibu). She won't be introduced to the pilot whales for some time. Today they spent the day with Corona and Purina. Purina was actually swimming with Steime and the calf for most of the time. Shows continued on Monday. Steime and the calf are not part of the show, but you can view them before the show. I went before both shows to view them. The first show they had her in one of the holding pools. I saw that calf bow once during that time. Baby bows are so cute. The second show they had her in the show pool. I was able to stand at the glass and see them really close. Steime continues to be an excellent mother. The calf is doing really well.
I was told that Steime was AIed with a cocktail of two males. I was not told which two males.

Frankie is named for her father. Frankie + Stein = Frankenstein. The little girl was born only a few weeks before Stein passed away. She is very special, and a wonderful memory of him.

As of now it is hard/impossible to get any recent photos of the little one because Steime refuses to come into the DIP pool.
