Corky II (ID#SWC-OO-8727)
female orca
She was captured in December 1969.
Since then, she has lived at Marineland of the Pacific in CA and SWC. She lived at Marineland until January 22, 1987, when she was moved to SW.
While she was at Marineland CA, she had 6 unsuccessful pregnancies, between February 1997 and July 1986. Orky fathered all of the pregnancies. She had 3 live births, the longest living calf was Kiva who lived 46 days, 2 stillbirths, and 1 miscarriage. Since she got to SWC, she has had one miscarriage, making it 7 total unsuccessful pregnancies. She no longer can be impregnated.

Corky is the largest female orca at SWC. She is only slightly smaller than Ulises by weight because Ulises is an Icelandic orca and Corky is Pacific. She is longer than Ulises who is 20.3 feet long. Atlantic (Icenlandic) orcas are smaller than Pacific orcas.
length: 20.6 feet
weight: about 8200 lbs
She is around 38 years old making her one of the oldest orcas in captivity.
So you can recognize her:
She has a nick in her left tail fluke.
When she opens her mouth, you can see she has no teeth.
She has a very straight dorsal fin that does not wobble or bend, that has a "nick" at the top half of it.
She has a "pouty" look on her face.

She spends most of her time doing clockwise circles upside down. However, she has her playful moments, and her interactive moments. I have interacted with her quite a few times. She really enjoys watching the large stuffed orcas. My favorite memory of her was on a really rainy day. She came over and spent 2 hours sitting by my sister and me just watching us and our stuffed orca.
She is great at shows and always tries her best.
Ever since Kandu V's, Orkid's mother, death in 1989 Corky has been Orkid's surrogate mother. She has been known to be fond of the calves, and plays a great surrogate mother to calves without mothers. She and Sumar get along great. While Bjossa was at SWC she also got along great with Corky.
