Dear Yu Wanker, I do not believe I have met you so to speak before...greetings.

I do have to say that I disagree with some of what you have said in your post.

Our staff has a very demanding job, and on the greater whole they do a darn fine job of it. Moding us is worse that herding cats, especially since they do it for free, and most spend a great deal of time trying to be fair, and considerate at it.

They are only human however and have all the failings that go with that state. Yes they make errors, the too quick temper, the episodes of foot in mouth, the primal scream of frustration, the takes it all to personally, and many more.

The OQ was their place to go to try and let all of that out in private, so they could come back out and be what a mod needs to be.

To deprive them of that safe haven is far crueler than anything they may have said in there. For it is denying them the right to be human.

I am not disputeing in any way that they may have inded been less that kind, may have posted more exerps of correspondence than was 100 % necessary for dealing with a case, may have spoke derogatorily of some one. People get angry, they get frustrated, they get excited, and those things happen.

Rather than have them happen in the public areas they do it behind closed doors...

We ALL do that...teachers have staff rooms, Doctors have lounges, call centers for customer service can hang up the phone ...

I sincerely doubt that there is a single member of this board or any other who has not said unkind things about other posters.

I once, unthinkingly suggested that OQ be a read only for non staff, and was very wisely reminded that OQ was where they vented. Every one needs a place to vent.

I would rather they were in there screaming and yelling to let it all out then come back and reply in a calm, courteous manner, than to have them lose it in a post.

Our staff on the whole does set a good example, and a big part of it is because they do have a private place.

It sounds as if you are wanting the staff to be some sort of INHUMANLY perfect little machines. Simply not possible, because they ARE HUMAN. And to force them to try and be otherwisse is more wrong than what ever may go on behind cloed doors.

If they want to call me names in private, thats okay by me as long as they are courteous to my face. That may sound like I am wanting them to be hypocritical...not at all, I am a reasoning adult, I know full well that at times I am either inadvertantly or advertantly going to set them off, push buttons, to offend them. As Mods they are expected to take this in good grace. How small of me were I to expect them not to react to it somewhere.
