To continue our look at famous poets, this month we'll delve a little into the wizarding world...

Lucy Fersanguine

Born in 1638 in Dorset, England, Lucy Fersanguine was duelling champion in her last two years at Hogwarts School. It was there that she met and fell for Antonin Lusso. In 1653, she followed Lusso into the Knights of Walpurgis (early Death Eaters). She wrote a mass of poetry over the next two decades, publishing it not in books, but in a weekly paper released across the country. Her most famous poem, a sonnet, was written in 1672 shortly before she was arrested for the murder of auror Robert Felgrave and his family.

It was only after questioning that the horrible nature of her writing came to light. Many of her poems contained messages, a form of contacting other Knights of Walpurgis. As well as details of meetings, they also included information on targets to be assassinated. Antonin Lusso was arrested and held in a Falmouth prison for the assassination of a prominent member of the local Muggle government. He was killed by Felgrave as he tried to escape by flying out of the prison grounds on a broomstick. Fersanguine then killed Felgrave and his family to avenge her loss.

She continued to write from her new home as one of Azkaban Prison's first inmates, right up until her death in 1681. These poems range from the relatively sane Dement Me (1673) to the rather odd Flib Fwoo in 1680, as the presence of the Dementor guards eventually took over her mind.

Dement Me

You were my life
You were my soul
Without you here
My heart is a hole
Eating me up
From the inside
From all this pain
I cannot hide

You're still my dream
Living in my head
But lately my dreams
Are nightmares instead
The hope is all gone
There's no way out
I'm losing my mind
Of that there's no doubt

I cannot think straight
Nothing feels right
Demons in my head
Plague me each night
When it's hot I feel cold
When it's cold I feel heat
There's nothing to live for
Come on, dement me, my sweet
