Episode 1 begins a few years after the end of Dragonball series. Goku and Chichi have been married and have son named Gohan. A space ship lands and an alien gets out and is searching for someone named Kakkorot. When he meets Goku he tells him he is his brother and that Goku is from a warrior race called Saiyans. He kidnaps Gohan after Goku refuses to join him in warring on other planets. Goku and Demon King Piccolo form an unlikely alliance to fight Radditz.
