Joe is a wanderer. He wanders in
to a poor section of town and bumps into a drunken old man. The old man
at first tries to get Joe to give him some money for some booze but they
end up in a scuffle. The old man is impressed with Joe's ability to fight
and offers to be his manager if he takes up boxing. Joe wants nothing to
do with the old drunk and goes his way. Later, some local kids are in trouble
with some gangsters. Joe picks a fight with them and beats them all up.
The kids are impressed with this good natured tough guy but the old man
sees something more. He gets a good look at Joe's hard punches and the
look in his eyes when he is fighting and decides right there that he is
going to give up drinking and become Joe's boxing manager. Now he has to
convince Joe about taking up boxing.
