Genre : Drama / Mystery / Horror
In a general hospital in Germany, Dr Tenma is well known as the best surgeon around. His gifted surgery skills and likable personality has brought him a promising career and a beautiful fiancé. But that all changes. Elsewhere in town there was a horrible crime. A diplomat and his wife are murdered. Of their twin children, the little boy is shot in the head and in critical condition. The girl is left in shock. They arrive at the hospital and are put in Dr. Tenma's care. It will take all of the Tenma's skills to save the boy but he is given orders by the hospital director to operate on another higher profile emergency. Dr. Tenma refuses and operates on the boy. The operation on the boy is successful but the other patient dies. This ends Dr. Tenma's promising career as the other patient was very important to the hospital and the director blames him. After hearing this, Tenma is depressed and goes to visit the boy. The boy is sleeping and Tenma pours out his troubles and then leaves to go out and have some drinks. The next morning, the director and the chief surgeon are found murdered by poison in the hospital. The twin boy and girl are missing. Tenma is suspected in the poisoning but no direct evidence can be found. Tenma has a suspicion that he may somehow be indirectly responsible and that the little boy he operated on might be have something to do with it. 9 years later, Tenma is still working at the hospital as a surgeon. In town, some seemingly unrelated murders start to look like the work of a serial killer. A particular detective, who still suspects Tenma in the hospital murders, begins questioning if Tenma may be responsible for the new cases. The name Johan comes up in the investigations. Johan is the name of the boy who Dr. Tenma operated on for a head wound 9 years ago.

Review
Episodes watched - 1-18 of 78. Drawn and animated well enough for a series, in a style I found well suited to the story. As for the story so far, very good. It was okay at first but soon drew me into the story. The description above is just the tip of the iceberg. The characters, their interaction, and the story line in general keeps getting more interesting and I keep wanting to see the next episode.
