Full Metal Alchemist

Edward and Alphonse are the sons
of a state alchemist whose work keeps him from home most of the time. The
two admire their father and share his interest and exceptional ability
in alchemy. One day, their mother, who they are very close to, passes away
from a chronic illness. The two decide to use forbidden alchemy to revive
her. Human transmutation. The attempt goes horribly wrong. The basic law
of alchemy is that something of equal value must be sacrificed in order
to gain something. During the transmutation, they make something that barely
resembles human. In return, the reaction takes Edward's arm and leg and Al's entire body. Before Al dies, Ed manages to fuse his soul into a nearby suit of armor, making Al into a living suit of armor. After getting mechanical limbs from Wynri and her grandmother, the two take Mustangs advice and set out to become state alchemists. With the title they can use the states
libraries to learn more alchemy, travel to different towns on missions,
and maybe one day undo the damage done by the human tranmutation attempt.
