Full Moon wo Sagashite
Written by : Arina Tanemura Genre : Romance / Drama / Magical Mitsuki's dream is to become a singer. She really likes to sing and she made a promise with Eichi, a boy she likes. Eichi wants to be an astronomer and left to go study abroad. They promised each other to be closer to their goals the next time they meet. Mitsuki is very determined but there is a problem. She has a tumor in her throat that is very painful and made worse by singing. Her grandmother and her doctor want her to stop singing till the tumor gets better. There is an operation she can have to get rid of the tumor but it carries the risk of Mitsuki losing her voice. Mitsuki says that she is more afraid of losing her voice than anything and opts not to have the operation. She had recently passed the preliminaries for a singing contract. All that's left is the audition but she decides to wait for her throat to heal some. While Mitsuki is in her room thinking about her promise, two people magically climb through her wall and basically talk among themselves till Mitsuki asks them what they are doing in her room. The two shinigami, Takuto and Meroko, are surprised that a living person can see them. They try to explain themselves but accidentally let it slip that Mitsuki has only one year left to live. While the two are discussing what to do next, Mitsuki slips off to go to the singing audition. She figures that with only a year left, she can't wait anymore. The two, feeling responsible for her, catch up to Mitsuki as she is trying to sneak into the building with the auditions. She is only 12 and the singers need to be at least 16. Takuto and Meroko try to convince her to give up but Mitsuki refuses. Takuto decides to help her by magically aging her to 16 thinking she will fail the audition then give up without the regret of not trying. Mitsuki dyes her hair and goes to the audition. Without the tumor, and with encouragement from Takuto, Mitsuki sings beautifully and wins the contract. But that's only the beginning. She has taken the first step to fulfilling her dream and her promise. |

After watching the first two episodes I would say this anime is very well done. Drawn well, likable and lively characters, and good background music. A good mix of drama, humor, and magical elements. If you like the genre, it's definitely worth a look. |
