Shaman King
Written by : Hiroyuki Takei Genre : Action / Adventure Going home late from school one night Manta took a short cut through the graveyard. There he met Yoh who was having a friendly conversation with all the ghosts in the graveyard. The two end up in the same class together and become fast friends. Yoh is a shaman. He commutes with ghosts and when he merges with one, he can use all the abilities that the ghost had learned while they were alive. Hoping to become the Shaman King one day, Yoh is looking for a strong ghost to become his partner. Manta is again using the graveyard as a shortcut late at night and this time meets Ryu. Ryu and his gang of thugs have made the graveyard their new hangout and beat Manta up for trespassing. Yoh hears about it and drags Manta along to go and settle the score. Manta is worried that Yoh will get beat up too but Yoh isn't worried at all. When the action starts, Yoh summons the help of the ghost of Amidamaru, a legendary samurai. Amidamaru is glad to help out because earlier Ryu had broke his tombstone. When Yoh and Amidamaru integrate, Yoh gains all the samurai skills of Amidamaru and make quick work of Ryu. Yoh asks Amidamaru if he wants to be his partner but he declines because he has been waiting for someone else. Yoh and Manta look into it and when they are able to clear up a 600 year old misunderstanding, Amidamaru joins Yoh on his quest to become Shaman King. |

Shaman King looks very good from reading some chapters of the manga in Viz Shonen Jump and seeing the first few episodes. Entertaining light adventure with some humor here and there. Drawn fairly well and I like the character designs. Definitely worth watching. |
