TOURS, France- A French
woman believed to be the oldest person in the world, celebrated
her 115th birthday on Wednesday, with a glass of white wine.
Marie Bremont, who lives in a retirement home in Cande; located
about 150 miles west of Paris, wore a red suit for the occasion;
while receiving kisses on the cheek, and eating strawberry cake.
Three young girls from the area; each born almost a century
after Bremont, recited a poem written by staff members at the
retirement home. After the celebration, Bremont said she was
"proud to be the doyen (senior or more experienced person in
a group) of humanity," as was said by the director of the
retirement home, Joseph Foucher. |
