(Pan down on the island)
Ash: “Okay, Razor Leaf, now!”
Bulbasaur: “Bulbasaur!”
(Ash knocks out the Butterfree with Razor Leaf)
Butterfree: “Free!”

Ash: “We won again!”
Bulbasaur: “Bulbasaur!”
(Trainer recalls his Butterfree)
Announcer: “But Ash isn’t taking any time out to enjoy the balmy breezes today.”
Ash: “Great job, Bulbasaur!”
Bulbasaur: “Bulba!”
Tracey: “I can’t believe how many battles Ash has had since we got here!”
Misty: “I can’t believe he won them all!”
Ash: “Nobody can beat me! On Mandarin Island I’m the man!”
Bulbasaur: “Bulba!”
Pikachu: “Pika!”
Announcer: "Ash is pretty confident after three straight victories."
Ash: “I guess I’m just too good a trainer!”
Misty: “It went out again…”
Tracy: “What did?”
Misty: “Sometimes his brain goes out to lunch.”
Back to Ash (looking at Balbasaur and Pikachu): “Guys, I’m unstoppable and unbeatable aren’t I?
Bulbasaur: “Bulba!”
Pikachu: “Pika!”
Ash: “And, one more thing…”
Misty: “What’s that?..”
Ash: “Hungry!”
All: “Waha!”

*Title screen*
Ash: “The Mandarin Island Miss Match!”
…
(The three are eating at a little seaside restaurant)
Misty: “Here, Togepi.” (Gives him an orange wedge)
Togepi: “Togepi!”
Ash: (Chowing down food)
Misty: “Take it easy, what are you in such a hurry for!”
Ash: “I gotta eat fast in case I have to beat somebody else!”
Misty: “Oh brother!”
Tracy: (Walks up, (from nowhere) holding a piece of paper) “Hey guys I solved the mystery!”
Misty: “What mystery?”
Tracy: “The mystery why everyone we meet here wants to battle!”
Tracy: “The answer’s right here in this flyer…”
Ash: “What’s it say?”
Tracey: (Reading) “Attention trainers! Pokemon lecture and battle demonstration by the one and only, Prima!”
Ash: “So Prima’s here?”
Misty: “Ahh! Prima is really here?!”
Tracy: “I heard she has a house here on the island, and trains here in the Off Season.”
Tracey: “Once a week she shows off her different battling techniques.”
Ash: “I’d sure like to see that!’
Misty: “I never dreamed I’d get the chance to see Prima in person!”
Tracy: “Sounds like you’re a really big Prima fan, Misty.”
Misty: “Who wouldn’t be? She’s one of the very best and she uses water type Pokemon too! Prima’s my hero!”
Prima: “I’m a hero, am I?”
(all turn around)
Misty and Tracy: “Ahh!”
Ash: (Chokes)
(Camera Pans up Prima’s body)

Misty: (gawking) “P-P-P-Prima?!”
Tracey: “It-it-it really is you!”
Ash: (trying not to choke and swallow at the same time)
Misty: “Ahh, this is such an honor, just to see you!”
Tracey: “I’m Tracey, this is Misty”
Misty: “I could really use some pointers on training my water type Pokemon! ”
Tracey: “Maybe I could sketch you and your Pokemon!”
Misty: “You’re my hero!”
Prima: (Smiles and walks past them)
Prima: (to Togepi) “Hello there, cutie, nice to meet you.”
Togepi: “Togepi!”
Ash: “I don’t think… Prima knows… We’re alive.”
(Prima through binoculars)

Meowth: “It’s them, and their talking to some woman who’s only talking to Togepi!”

James: “I wonder who that could be?”
Jessie: “Let’s see…”
(through binoculars again)

James: “Hey…”
Jessie: “What?”
James: “I’ve seen her, but I don’t know where…”
All three: “Hmm…”
(Back to Prima who walks over to the railing to the ocean.)
Tracey: “Uh, Miss Prima? Is everything okay?”

Prima: (Looks up at the sky and shades her eyes) “Ahh, the sun feels like an old friend…”
Tracey: “It does?”
Misty: “Oh, I’m so excited! We saw the flyer about your lecture! I just can’t wait to hear your talk!”
Prima: (with her hand to her ear) “Shh, just listen… The wind is speaking…”

Misty: “Huh?”
Tracey: “I think we might need a translation!”
Ash: “The wind can wait! I want a Pokemon battle now!”
Misty: “Be polite! You can’t just challenge Prima to a match that way!”
Ash: “I gotta battle while I’m still on my winning streak! Mandarin Island must be my lucky island ‘cause I haven’t lost a single Pokemon match since I’ve been here!”
Ash: “The only way I’m gonna prove I’m one of the best is if I beat one of the best!”
Prima: "The ocean is beautiful isn't it?
Ash: "Awww, forget about the ocean, will ya'? Let's have a battle!
Prima: "This must be one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Ash: "Who cares? Let's battle!"
Prima: Ahhh, feel the salt air on your face."
Ash: "Come on, let's go!"
Prima: "The sea and the sky, one reflecting the other."
Ash: "Oh, okay, I understand now, you're afraid to battle with me because you know you're gonna lose if you do!"
Misty: "You must be kidding."
(Prima turns to laugh at Ash.)
Prima: (Laughs)
Ash: "Hey! What's so funny?! Not only am I an undefeated champion on this island, but I'm practically a Pokemon Master. Come on Prima, one battle!"
Misty: "The only thing you're the master of is disaster!"
Ash: "Who asked you?! Maybe you want me to teach you a lesson instead of Prima! Hey, I guess I could use another easy win?"
Misty:"(angry) what do you mean another easy win?!!!"
Ash:"Oh, well, if the great Prima's scared of me... ...I guess I'll find somebody who is not afraid to lose!"
Misty:"Aggg, That Ash is so...!!!! If he ever did battle you he'd see he's not as great as he thinks he is!"
(Close up on Prima)
Ash: "Too bad! Hey! Are you a Pokemon trainer?"
Surfer Guy: "Yeah I'm a trainer."
Ash:"Haha, You want to have a Pokemon Battle?"
Surfer Guy: "Two Orange league badges, huh? Okay, I'll battle ya!...."
Misty: "Oh now he's found somebody else, I might as well watch."
Tracey: (to Balbasaur and Pikachu)“Aren’t you gonna come?”
Pikachu: “Pik-a-chu…”
Bulbasaur: “Bulbasaur…”
Tracey: “Still eating, huh? Sorry guys. Ha…”
(Prima walks over to watch the battle)

Ash: “Okay let’s do it! I’ll even let you set the rules!”
Surfer Guy: “You wanna use two Pokemon each?”
Ash: “Okay, Squirtle I choose you!”
Squirtle: “Squirtle!”
Surfer Guy: “Persian, Go!”
Persian: (Cries)
(Persian’s tail uncurls)
Tracey: “Ash, that Persian has its tail out straight, that means it's been in lots of battles.”
Ash: “That doesn’t scare me!”
Surfer Guy: “That Squirtle isn’t going to last too long, so I’d better let you go first.”
Ash: “I’ll go first and your Persian won’t last! Squirtle, Water Gun now!”
Squirtle: “Squirtle!”
(Persian dodges it)
Misty: (Gasps)
Tracey: “It’s fast!”
Surfer Guy: “Persian, Thunder Bolt Attack”
Persian: “merow!”
Squirtle: “Squir-tle!”
Ash: “Squirtle, Withdraw!”
Squirtle: “Squirtle!”
(Goes inside his shell)
Tracey: “I can’t believe that Persian can use electrical attacks!”
Ash: “Squirtle, are you okay”
Squirtle: (Comes out) “Squirtle!”
Ash: “All right, I knew I could count on you, Squirtle!”
Ash: “Use your Skull Bash, now!”
Squirtle : “Squirtle!”
Persian: “merow!” (K.O.ed)
Surfer Guy: “Persian, return!”
Surfer Guy: “Not bad for a kid, but play time’s over! Go Tauros!”
Tauros: (cry)
Surfer Guy: “Tauros, Tackle attack!”
Tauros: (cries and charges)
Squirtle: “Squirtle!” (K.O.ed)
Ash: “Ah, Squirtle return!”
Tracy: “Ash, be careful, that’s a really powerful Tauros!”
Ash: “If he wants power, then I’ll give him power!”
Ash: “Charizard, I choose you!!”
Charizard: (Roar)
Misty: (big mouth) “No Ash, you know you can’t handle Charizard yet!”
Ash: “Don’t worry Misty, I have enough experience as a trainer to handle anything now! Right Charizard?”
Charizard: (Roar) (Burns Ash)
Ash: “…Guess not…”
Misty: “Now you really look like Ash.”
Surfer Guy: “Looks like your little plan just backfired!”
Ash: "Argg, Charizard, Flamethrower, now!"
Charizard: (Yawn)
Ash: “Why won’t you listen to me? I’ve been in plenty of matches, I’m a great trainer, come on Charizard, get out there and battle!”
(Prima watches)
Surfer Guy: “Sorry about that junior, but this match is mine! Okay, Tauros Take Down attack now!”
(Tauros charges, hits Charizard, Charizard retaliates and burns Tauros to a crisp)
Surfer Guy: “Oh-no, he beat me!”
Ash: “You did it! You did it Char-” (He runs over to Charizard only to have it fly away) “Hey, come back here!”
Surfer Guy: “Nice work! Never send a Pokemon into battle if you don’t know how to handle it! Ahh!” (Ducks from Charizard’s Flamethrower and runs off)
Tracey: “This is bad, Charizard’s just getting warmed up!”
(Ducks from fire)
Both: “Ahh!”
Tracey: “This is dangerous, Ash!”
Misty: “That thing’s out of control!”
Ash: “Charizard, return now!”
(Charizard flies and dodges the returning beam)
(Charizard turns and burns Ash again)
Ash: (charred)
(Prima walks over!)
Tracy: “It’s Prima!”
Prima: “Go… Slowbro.”
Slowbro: “Slowbro!”
Ash: “Huh? A slowbro?”
Tracey: “How can a Slowbro beat a Charizard.”
(Charizard prepares to attack)
Prima: “Disable!”
Slowbro: “Slow…!”
Charizard: (surprised cry)
All: “Wow!”
Prima: “All right, now bring Charizard down.”
Slowbro: “Slow…”
(Charizard floats down to the ground)
Tracey: “That’s a really strong Disable attack!”
Misty: “Prima sure knew just what to do!”
Prima: “Ash, use your Pokeball.”
Ash: “…Okay! Return Charizard.”
(He recalls Charizard as Prima recalls Slowbro)
Prima: “Charizard needs training.”
Ash: “Maybe it does, but I thought for sure I’d be able to handle Charizard by now.”
Prima: “A trainer is as good as his Pokemon.”
Ash: “You don’t have to tell me, I know that”
Prima: “Are you sure? I don’t think you do.”

Ash: “Of course I do! I was in the top sixteen of the last Pokemon League!”
Prima: “It’s too bad, you just don’t understand…”
(A clock bell rings)
Prima: “Well, I’ve got to be going…”
(She turns)
Prima: “If you’re not busy, why don’t you come to my demonstration this afternoon?”
Misty: “This is like a dream come true! Yay!”
Prima: “I’d like it if you came along with your friends too, Ash.”
Ash: “Um, okay…”
(Cut to stadium)
Announcer: “Welcome Pokemon fans to Mandarin Island Stadium! It is my pleasure to introduce to you one of the Orange Island’s very best; the one and only, Prima!” (Quick pan up her legs, slow crawl over every thing else!)
Announcer: “Her Pokemon battle demonstration is about to begin! Future Pokemon Masters watch closely and you may learn something!”
(Jessie, James, and Meowth are in the crowd stand as vendors)
James: “I knew she looked familiar, I must have seen her in the newspaper or on TV!”
Meowth: “And of course the best Trainer’s Pokemon are in tip-top fighting shape!”
Jessie: “There’s an idea, why don’t we try to take hers?”
James and Meowth: “I wish!”
(Bell rings)
Prima: “All right, let’s begin!”
(Different Pokemon battle)
“Machop!” “Slow”

“Dewgong!” “Marowack”

“Alakazam!” “Cloyster!”
(Kadabra falls frozen, revealing Prima standing at the other end with Cloyster)
Tracey: “Awesome, that’s three straight wins for Prima!”
Misty: “Prima’s totally cool!”
Togepi: “Togepi!”
Pikachu: “Pika!”
Ash: “She’s really good…”
(One last pan up her body, centering on her face)
Who is that Pokemon?
It’s Machop!
Machop: “Machop!”
(Outside view of Prima’s house)
(Inside)
Tracey: “That was a really awesome demonstration, Prima!”
Misty: “You took out all your opponents with just one attack!”
Tracey: “I learned a lot about choosing Pokemon and attacks just by watching you!”
Misty: “And it was really super nice of you to invite us back to your house!”

Tracey: “Don’t take this the wrong way, but you’re a totally different person when you’re battling!”
Prima: “Maybe so, but we all behave in different ways when we’re in different situations, don’t we Tracey?”
Ash: “I figured it out!”
Misty: “Figured what out?”
Ash: “Prima’s trying to teach me using that, uh, what’d they call that again?”
Pikachu: “Pika.”
Ash: “Oh yeah, she’s using perverse psychology on me!”
Misty: “You know, you sound smarter with your mouth shut.”
Ash: “Grrr…”
Prima: “Everyone has a personal style, their own particular way of battling.”
Tracey: “What’s yours?”
Prima: “I try to behave like water…”
Ash: “What do you mean, Prima?”
Prima: “When I’m not battling I try to go with the flow. But as soon as a battle begins I become as unforgiving as ice! Then I melt right back and flow on…” (Smiles)
(Prima walks outside)
Prima: “A trainer can be successful with any number of styles, but the most important thing, the most important thing is knowing, really knowing where your true strength lies.”
(The others follow)
Ash: “Good, ‘cause I’m strong, real strong!”
Prima: “That’s good, but to be a good Pokemon trainer you need a different kind of strength.”
Ash: “Yeah, what kind of strength is that?”
Prima: “The strength that comes from inside.”
Prima: “…And with that strength you can share your heart with your Pokemon.”
Ash: “…”
Tracey: “I can almost feel what you mean…”
(Tracey extends his arms and closes his eyes as does Misty and Togepi)
(A Fearow cries in the distance…)
Ash: “Miss Prima, let’s have a Pokemon battle now!”
Misty: “You had your chance, she beat your Charizard with her Slowbro!”
Ash: “You know that wasn’t a real match! I wanna have the chance to prove how good I really am!”
Prima: (sighs) “…Okay, let's battle…”

(walks down some steps)
Ash: “All right! Haha!”
Tracey: “This should be a good one.”
Misty: “Yeah, fire versus ice.”
(At the battle court)
Prima: “We’ll battle with just one Pokemon each.”
Ash: “Fine!”
Prima: “It wouldn’t be fair to go easy on you!”
Ash: “Don’t worry! I’ve studied your style and I think I know exactly how to beat you!”
Ash: “I choose, Pikachu!”
Pikachu: “Pika!”
Prima: “Then I’ll choose…”
Cloyster: “Cloyster!”
Misty: “Cloyster?”
Ash: “I knew she’d use a water type! Are you ready, Pikachu?”
Pikachu: “Pika!.”
Tracey: “Better be careful, Ash, Prima knows what she’s doing!”
Ash: “And so do I, just watch me!”
Prima: “I’ll let you have the first move, Ash!”
Ash: “Cloyster won’t be able to beat this!”
Ash: “Pikachu, Thunderbolt attack!”
Pikachu: “Pika-”
Prima: “Cloyster, Withdraw!”
Pikachu: “-chuuuuu!”
Misty: “Look at that! Thunderbolt didn’t weaken Cloyster at all”
Tracy: “You’re right, Cloyster’s withdraw is such a strong defense, electrical attacks don’t weaken it at all!”
Ash: “Alright. Pikachu, Agility!”
Pikachu: “Pika!”
(Pikachu takes off)
Prima: “Cloyster, Reflect!”
Cloyster: “Cloyster-Cloyster…”
Pikachu: “Pi-pi-pi!”
(Runs smack into the reflect wall)
Pikachu: “Pikaaa!”
Pikachu: “Chaa!”
Ash: “Oh, are you okay?”
Pikachu: “Pika!”
Ash “That’s the spirit!”
(Lorelei frowns)
Ash: “Thunder attack!”
Pikachu: “Pika! Chuuuu!”
(Thunder hits Cloyster dead on)
(Everyone shields their eyes from the light)
Ash: “That oughta do it!”
(Thunder stops)
Cloyster: “Cl-l-l-oyster!” (Glows red)
Pikachu: “Pika?”
Ash: “What’s that?”
Tracey: “Cloyster’s Rage attack…”
Ash: “Huh?”
Tracy: “It’s dangerous! Whenever a Pokemon uses Rage, its attack power goes way up!”
Ash: “Hurry, Pikachu! Quick-attack!”
Pikachu: “Pika!”
Prima: “Aurora Beam!”
Cloyster: “Cloyster!”

(Cloyster fires two Aurora Beams. Pikachu dodges the first with Quick-attack but is flung back by the second)
Pikachu: “Pika!”
Prima: “Cloyster, Take Down now!”
(Cloyster rams into Pikachu)
Pikachu: “Pichaaaa!”
(Pikachu flies across the field and lands hard)
Ash: “Pikachu, are you alright?!”
(Runs over to scoop up Pikachu)
Ash: “You put up a great fight.”
Pikachu: “Pika…”
Tracey: “The match is over.”
Misty: “It sure is.”
(Prima recalls Cloyster and walks over to Ash)
Prima: “I’m sorry I had to do that, Ash…”
(Prima takes Pikachu from Ash’s arms and cradles him)
Prima: “Are you alright, Pikachu?”
Pikachu: “Pika…”
Prima: “You’re very confident in your skills as a trainer, but you don’t become a great Pokemon trainer just by using your skills.”
Ash: “But I already earned a lot of badges, so I must be a really good trainer, right?”
Prima: “I think you may be forgetting something, Ash…”
Prima: “Didn’t your Pokemon do the battling to earn you those badges as well?”
Ash: “Uh…”
Prima: “Those badges were like gifts from your Pokemon that show how much they care for you.”
Ash: “They battle for me because they care about me…”
Prima: “That’s right!”
(Hands Pikachu back over to Ash)
Prima: “And remember that losing is a very important part of becoming a Pokemon Master.”
Ash: “But why is that?”
Prima: “You need to experience the pain and disappointment of defeat. It’s easy to win, but when you lose you have to rely on your real strengths; the people and the Pokemon you love, and who love you back.”
(Ash is joined by Tracey and Misty)
Ash: “People and Pokemon… I’ll remember that one!”
Prima: “I know how much you want to compete in the Orange League, but if you want to get there you’ll have to become closer to your Pokemon than ever before.”
Ash: “How do I do that?”
Prima: “You’ll do that by battling side by side with your Pokemon. As time goes on, I think you’ll learn almost as much about your Pokemon as you do about yourself.”
Prima: “And when you’ve conquered all the gyms in the League you’ll be presented with an honorable trainer’s trophy for your accomplishments.”
Ash: “An honorable trainer’s trophy for me?”
Prima: “That’s if you prove you have the heart of a true Pokemon Trainer!”
Ash: “I’ll prove it! And I won’t forget what you said! Thank you Prima, thank you very much!”
Prima: (Smiles and nods)
James: “Bravo!”
Jessie: “Very inspiring!”
Prima: “Huh?” (looks up)
James: “So sorry to interrupt the pep rally!”
Jessie: “We’d love to hear the rest of your lecture!”
Meowth: “Is it available on CD?”
Prima: “Tape only! (whispers) Eighteen ninety-five…”
All: “Ahh!” (falls down)

Jessie, James, and Meowth: (fall out of their balloon) “Ahh!”
(All three quickly stand up)
Jessie: “Prepare for trouble and defeat!”
James: “Make it double for Miss Elite!”
Jessie: “To protect the world from devastation!”
James: “To unite all peoples within our nation!”
Jessie: “To denounce the evils of truth and love!”
James: “To extend our reach to the stars above!”
Jessie: “Jessie!”
James: “James!”
Jessie: “Team Rocket Blast off at the speed of light…”
James: “So, surrender now or prepare to fight, right?”
Meowth: “Meowth, that’s right!”
Ash: “What are you guys doing here?..”
Misty: “Aw, I’ll bet they’re here to try and steal Prima’s Pokemon!”
James: “That was our original plan…”
Jessie: “…But we realized we’d never stand a chance against someone like you, Prima!”
Meowth: “So we decided to grab Pikachu while it’s still pooped!”
All three: “Let’s go Pikachu!”
Ash: “Guess again!”
Pikachu: “Pika!”
Jessie: “Oh I forgot, you’d rather battle!”
James: “Losing is very important isn’t it!”
Meowth: “Yeah, losing is so important, it’s what we based our entire career on!”
Tracey: “Hm, they’re weird…”

James: “Call us names if you’d like, but we’re not leaving without that Pikachu!”
Ash: “That’s what you think!..”
Prima: “Don’t fight, there’s no reason to argue. Maybe I can cool them down.”
Prima: “I choose Jynx!”
Jynx: “Jynx!”
Jessie: “Look, James, it’s a Jynx!”
James: “You don’t see one of those everyday!”
Prima: “Ice beam attack!”
Jynx: “Jynx!” (Punches them with ice)
Jessie, James, and Meowth: “Agg!” (as Ice freezes over them)
Ash: “Frozen! All right!”
Meowth: “I can’t move my meowth!”
James: “I got the cold shoulder, and everything else!”
Prima: “Jynx, use Blizzard and blow them away!”
Jynx: “Jynx-Jynx!”
Jessie, James, and Meowth: “agh!”
James: “Looks like…”
Meowth: “…Team Rocket’s…”
All three: “Blasting off again!”
(Jessie, James, and Meowth disappear in a star finish while little bits of ice sparkle back down)
Ash: “Great job!”
Misty: “That was the coolest!”
(All see the ice)
All: “Huh?”
Tracey: “Wow, look how it sparkles!”
(All staring at the ice falling back down)
Prima: “The ice is nice…”

(Fade cut to outside Prima’s house)
Prima: “The nearest Gym is Trovita.”
Ash: “Trovita?”
Prima: “Go to the other side of the island and straight across the bay.”
Ash: “Okay, Pikachu, ready for Trovita!”
Pikachu: “Pika!”
Ash: “Yeah!”
Prima: “It’s been a pleasure meeting you all, and I hope I helped, at least a little!” (She turns her head and smiles)
Ash: “You have! And if I ever get into trouble I’ll listen to the wind, and think about all the things you taught me, Prima!”
Misty: “And I’m going to try my best to go with the flow, just like you do, Prima.”
Tracey: “And no matter what, I’m always going to remember that my Pokemon and I are partners and friends!”
Ash: “Pikachu, I just hope that you and I will get to be even better buddies!”
Pikachu: “Pikachu.”
Prima: (waving) “Good bye, now, and good luck!”
All: “Good by!”
(The three walking off into the sunset)

Announcer: “So, with new insights into the world of Pokemon, Ash moves closer to his dream, another Gym and another adventure is just around the bend.”

(>To be continued)
