Somewhere deep in the forest, in the dead of night, could be heard a young girl crying. It was a young half-demon half-elf girl who was just sent to this strange world by her parents before they were to be executed by the grand demon overlords. Being just an infant, she knows nothing: not who her parents were. Not that she was sent here for her protection. Not even that she was alone.

In the distance, this crying was heard by a dog with orange and black fur all over its body. It was a mother Arcanine in her den with her pups. She took the risk of leaving her pups unattended to go find the source of this wailing. She came across this red-skinned baby with short horns and pointed ears. She looks around. Where is this creature’s mother? Did she abandon her child? Realizing that the mother was nowhere to be found, Arcanine picks this wailing child up by its hair, carried it back to her den, and carefully set it down next to her 2 pups. Feeling the warmth of the pups’ bodies, the crying creature was silenced and fell into a deep sleep. Arcanine curled up around the 3 babies.

When morning came, the little demon child awoke and began to cry out of hunger. Her cries awoke the pups, who latched onto their mother for nourishment. After Arcanine nudged her with her nose, the demon child realized she was welcome to follow the pups’ lead. When she was satisfied, the demon child fell asleep again. For the next few months, this ritual continued until it was time for the pups and the demon girl to join their mother on a hunt. Arcanine growled something to her pups, and the demon girl said, “What is hunting?” as though she had understood Arcanine and had been speaking English for years. Arcanine was surprised to hear this strange child speak and to watch her stand on 2 legs, walk over, and touch her face.

When she took her hand off Arcanine’s face, Arcanine was even more surprised to hear herself say, “Hunting is how we get food,” in perfect English.

Arcanine stopped and stared at the child. She said, “You are no ordinary child. Do you know your name by chance?”

The child nodded and said, “Kyahshi.”

“Well, Kyahshi, I do thank you for the gift of speech you gave me, but my children will not understand this new voice.”

“You can still speak in your old voice as well. You haven’t tried yet.”

Arcanine growled to her pups and the 4 took off into the woods. When Arcanine spotted a deer, she ran towards it, the pups and Kyahshi following her. Kyahshi kept up with them with a nearly blinding super human speed. Kyahshi reached behind her and when she brought her hand back in front of her, she was holding a dagger that she’d taken out of an invisible magic “backpack.” Arcanine and the pups pounced on the deer and Kyahshi stabbed it in the head with her dagger. Then the 4 devoured the deer leaving only the bones and the dagger that Kyahshi picked up and put back in her backpack. The 4 then returned to the den.

Some number of years later (about 3) it was time for the pups and Kyahshi to leave their mother. After the pups had left Kyahshi stayed behind. She said, “Mom. I can feel the sorrow in your heart. You didn’t want them to go. Why did you make them leave?”

“They’re old enough now that they don’t need me in order to survive. So no matter how sad it is that they left, it had to be done.”

“Mom, would it make you feel better if I told you I still need you?”

“As much as I’d like to believe that, it’s time for you to go out in to the world to fend for yourself. It would only weigh you down to stay here with me.”

Kyahshi thought a while before she said, “Well then, why don’t you come with me?”
Arcanine paced back and forth as she pondered this. Finally she said, “No. You have to go and find who you truly are; to find where you truly belong. This is not normal for a mother to say to her leaving pups, but you, Kyahshi, will always have a home here. Now it’s time for you to go.”

“Goodbye, Mom.”

“Goodbye, Kyahshi.”

Kyahshi turned and flew away over the trees using another demonic power. She came up to a clearing with many large structures in it. Her demon’s intuition, a very informative voice inside her, told her that the clearing was called a town and that the structures were called buildings. She saw many creatures that walked on 2 legs the same way she did going in and out of these buildings. Her demon’s intuition told her these creatures were humans. She landed in the clearing and went up to a building with a sign in it. She couldn’t read the sign, but the letters looked like this; PIZZA. Even though she couldn’t read it, she had seen people coming out eating something. She went inside and looked around. Everyone was staring at her. She tried to approach one of them and he hit her and shouted, “Beat it, ya freak!” All the others joined him, yelling at her, then they began to chase her. She ran outside and quickly flew away. She came to another town, landed, tried to talk to a human, and got chased away again. She went to another town and the same thing happened. Every place she went to, people kept rejecting her.

She was so discouraged that she began to cry. When she started to cry, a small 3-tailed fox demon appeared in front of her. She looked up when the fox said her name. “Kyahshi, my name is Hvitrillian. Most call me Hvit for short. You may. I was sent here by your parents.”

Kyahshi gasped and said, “You know my parents?! Where are they? What are they? Can you take me to see them? Why did they leave me?”

“Let me explain. To be more accurate, I was sent here by your parents’ last wish. They were executed by the grand demon council.”

“What do you mean, Hvit?”

“Your mother was a full-blooded demon, while your father was a full-blooded elf. Their love was forbidden as was the existence of a mixed species like you. They were found out by a noble, then arrested and executed. Before they were arrested, they sent you to this world, and their last wish to me was that I tell you who they truly were. They also asked me to, if needed, help you in anyway I could. Take this necklace from around my neck and put it around yours.”

Kyahshi took the necklace and looked at it. It looked incomplete; there were 4 indentations that looked like something should fit in them. She then put the necklace around her neck. Hvit closed his eyes and a jewel appeared in the center of his forehead. The jewel floated over to the necklace. There was a bright flash and when the light subsided, the jewel had fitted itself into the necklace. Kyahshi sighed and a powerful wind blew from her breath.

Hvit said, “That is the power of that gem; the demon wind gem. That gem is born of the power of a wind demon, like me. Now you can control air, or air bend, but not until you refine your skills. I can teach you.”

Over the next 2 years, Kyahshi trained under Hvit’s guidance. She also told Hvit about this voice in her head that seemingly guided her. Hvit explained the demon’s intuition further. It took a little while for her to be able to sigh without whipping up a maelstrom, but she finally got considerable control. During training, she accidentally shot a stray wind and hit a small, red-furred, 6-tailed fox and blew him against a tree. She ran over to help him, but when she touched him, he began to glow. When the glow died down, the red fox had changed. It was now covered in white fur, had 9 tails, and had nearly doubled its size. “Hvit, what happened to him?”

“I don’t know. I would assume that he’s a pokemon, though. It might be best if you listen to your demon’s intuition. Like I said before, the demon’s intuition is a rare skill that brings wisdom to its possessor.”

Kyahshi closed her eyes and thought for a while. Then she said, “We need to talk to Mom.”

Hvit, not knowing of Arcanine, said, “Your mother was executed long ago.”

“You think I was able to fend for myself as an infant? No, I was taken in by a mother Arcanine. She cared for me as one of her own. Over time, she just became my mom. I can fly us to where she lives.”

Hvit transformed into a version of himself that was about the same size as the 9-tailed fox, who still lay unconscious next to him. “I don’t need help to fly. I am a wind demon, after all. Get the 9-tailed fox onto my back. I can carry him.” Kyahshi did as Hvit instructed. They then took off towards Arcanine’s den.

They landed and Kyahshi helped get the 9-tailed fox off Hvit’s back. Then she entered the den and called, “Mom? Mom?” She heard growling and saw Arcanine standing there, teeth bared. “Mom, don’t you recognize me? It’s Kyahshi. You said I’d always have a home here.” Arcanine carefully stepped forward and sniffed Kyahshi, then stopped growling.

She sat down and said, “Kyahshi, it’s great to see you again. You’ve certainly grown. What brings you here today? Did you drop in just to say ‘hi’ to your mom?”

“Actually, Mom, I have a question that only you can answer, but first, there something I need you to see. It’s outside the den.” Arcanine followed Kyahshi out of the den. Kyahshi showed her the 9-tailed fox and explained what happened to him.

Arcanine said, “Well it sounds to me like the fox you hit with that wind blast was a Vulpix. When you touched him, he evolved into Ninetales. 1 thing doesn’t add up, though. Vulpix needs the power of a fire stone to evolve, just like when I evolved from a Growlithe. According to what you told me, there was no fire stone present.”

Hvit said, “I can think of one possibility. Kyahshi, put your hand on Ninetales’ head.” Kyahshi did as instructed and her hand began to glow red. She pulled her hand away and a red gem had appeared on Ninetales’ forehead. “So that was it. He was the host for demon fire gem. Apparently, it contains the same properties as a fire stone.”

Arcanine said, “But then why didn’t he evolve until Kyahshi touched him?”

Hvit answered, “A demon gem’s power is inactive until it comes into a demon’s presence. Kyahshi’s touch awoke the gem’s power, causing Vulpix to evolve into Ninetales.” Kyahshi took the fire gem from Ninetales’ forehead and fitted into her necklace. Just then, Ninetales woke up and ran away. “Well now that you have the demon fire gem, the question is who will teach you how to control your fire bending?”

Arcanine said, “I could do it. I never did tell you, Kyahshi, but I’m able to control fire. Normal Arcanines are only able to breathe fire, but I’ve been practicing over the past 2 years and I’m pretty good at, what did you call it, fire bending?”

Hvit said, “Even if you did teach her, it would take a considerable amount of time for her to master it and we can’t stay in one place too long. The humans are after us.”

Kyahshi told Arcanine all about her real parents, why she was sent to this world, and what had happened between her and the humans. “Well if that’s the case, I’ll just have to come with you.”

“Even if you did come with us, we get around by flying, Arcanine. Can you fly?”

Arcanine shook her head. Kyahshi said, “Mom, when I was only a few months old, I gave you the gift of speech. I can give you the gift of flight as well.” Kyahshi put her hand on Arcanine’s back. When she took her hand off, Arcanine was levitating.

“Well, now that Kyahshi gave you the power to fly, I guess you can come with us.” They took off over the trees. When they landed, it was night. Kyahshi went to find wood for a fire, which Arcanine lit with her fire breath. Arcanine then showed Kyahshi how to build up a fireball. Kyahshi burned her hands a couple time before she got it right.

When they decided to call it a night from fire bending training, they sat around the fire to talk. Arcanine said, “Hey Kyahshi. When you put that demon gem into your necklace, your back began to sparkle. Perhaps it’s something else linked to your demon powers.”

Kyahshi shrugged and said, “Hvit, do you know anything about it?”

Hvit said, “Indeed I do. Most demons have a magic invisible backpack, in which various weapon created by that demon’s energy are both created and stored. Most likely upon gaining the fire gem’s power, you also created a new weapon, even if we didn’t know it. Kyahshi it might not be a bad idea to check what weapons you have in that pack.” Kyahshi reached into her demon backpack and pulled out a dagger, a bow and a large quiver of arrows, and two longs swords that were in their sheaths. She tied the long swords’ sheaths to her belt. “By focusing your demon power, you may find ways to combine those weapons with your elements or even with each other.”

“How can I combine the weapons themselves together?”

“Well, instead of just me telling you, you should try a fusion. For instance, those two longs swords you have there. If you concentrate on them, you can fuse them together into a great sword. Go ahead and try it out.” Kyahshi successfully managed to combine the long swords, though due to her lack practice, the fusion split apart rather quickly. “That is a common weapon fusion. The more you use those weapons, the easier it will become to sustain the fusions.”

Arcanine said, “Well I don’t quite understand how she can combine her elements with the weapons. Can you explain that?”

“It’s really not too complicated once you see an example of it. One of the most common examples is controlling the trajectory of an arrow using the power of wind. Kyahshi, care to demonstrate?”

“Sure, but where should I send the arrow towards with my air bending?”

“Just shoot the arrow, then use the wind to make it reverse direction. Just make sure it doesn’t hit you.” Kyahshi did as instructed, but had to dodge the arrow on its return trip. Hvit and Arcanine laughed and Hvit said, “Like the weapon fusions, that will take practice to master as well.”

Over the next 3 years, Kyahshi practiced with her weapons with Hvit and continued to learn fire bending with Arcanine’s help. While working with Hvit, she figured out how to add fire to the arrows and even managed to turn her long swords/great sword into fire blades. One night, Arcanine asked, “Say Hvit, I’ve noticed there are 4 indentations in Kyahshi’s necklace, but only 2 have been filled. Are there other demon gems out there?”
Hvit replied, “Yes, but tracking them down is very difficult. However, I’d say that Kyahshi’s demon intuition will reveal the gems to us in time.”

Kyahshi asked, “What other elements are there and what happens if I fill all 4 indentations?”

“I do know that there is a water gem. I don’t know what the 4th gem is or what happens when all 4 are brought together in the necklace, but your parents wished for me to help you collect all 4. The legend surrounding the gems says, ‘When the 4 are 1, the true power will shine.’ I believe that means we need to bring all 4 together to find out what they can really do.”

That night, Kyahshi had a dream, but it seemed so real, almost as if it were trying to show her something. She saw a dense fog in a deep forest. From that fog she heard a man laugh evilly, then she saw a man with an enormous sword attacking her with water, almost as if he were water bending. In the midst of the swirling torrent of water, she saw a blue gem, which she perceived to be the demon water gem. When morning came, she told Arcanine and Hvit about the dream. Hvit said, “It seems that your demon’s intuition has revealed the location of the demon water gem. We should head to the place you saw.”

They went to the forest as Hvit had suggested, but something seemed out of place. There was no fog like in her vision. They came to the pond where she had seen the man appear. “This is the place I saw him, but nothing seems to be happening.” Just then, a thick fog began to roll in and an evil laughing could be heard.

In the midst of the fog, a voice said, “So, intruders have stumbled into my property. Good. It’s been too long since I killed something other than the weak creatures of this forest. This will be fun.” The fog thinned enough for them to see the same man Kyahshi had seen in her dreams. The man performed a sequence of various hand position and a large wave of water ripped towards them. Kyahshi was able to perfectly copy his hand positions using her demon’s intuition. By copying him, she sent the wave back where it came from. This person will not be easy to defeat with the skills I’ve learned so far. Maybe I should use my demon’s intuition and fight him using his techniques. “Huh. Pretty good. You managed to stop my jutsu, but I can just as easily cut you down with this guillotine sword.” Kyahshi drew her long swords and took the dagger out of her backpack and combined them into a guillotine sword of her own. “So you have the same weapon as me, but that does you no good if you can’t see me.” The fog grew thicker, so thick Kyahshi couldn’t even see the sword she was holding. “Now we can’t see each other, but I can track you by the slightest sound, even a heart beat.” What now? If I can’t see, I can’t block him. I have to calm down. My demon’s intuition will guide me. Kyahshi closed her eyes and swung her sword to her left to block his sword. “Lucky shot. You won’t be that lucky next time.”

The battle raged on in the same style, Kyahshi blocking his attacks and copying them by relying on her demon’s intuition. The man was getting frustrated and Kyahshi was getting tired from using the demon’s intuition for so long. The man charged towards her once more and yelled, “Now you’re dead!” She raised her hand in the direction she heard his voice coming from and shot a powerful blade of dark energy into him. The fog faded away and the demon water gem was floating in the air. Kyahshi put the gem into her necklace.

Arcanine and Hvit ran towards Kyahshi, glad that they could see her again. Arcanine said, “Even though I couldn’t see you, I did see the last attack you used. It looked like a blade of pure demon energy. I’ve never seen you use that one before. What was it, anyway?”

Kyahshi shook her head and said, “I don’t know. I just raised my hand towards him. I was going to shoot a fire ball at him, but that blade…” Kyahshi fainted mid-sentence.

Arcanine shouted, “Kyahshi! Kyahshi are you okay?”

Hvit looked at Kyahshi and said, “She’s fine. She used her demon energy to transfer the demon’s intuition’s power into her eyes in order to see in that fog. Apparently, she exhausted her energy. She just needs to rest.”

“Oh, that’s a relief.”

“As for that blade of energy she used, I’d say it was her mother’s Kekkei Genkai; a technique that can only be used by demons of a certain bloodline. This technique was Demon Blade. It concentrates the user’s demon energy into a solid blade and shoots it through the target. It’s said that absolutely nothing can block it. It wasn’t as strong as it would be after practice, but to have learned a Kekkei Genkai in a life-threatening situation like that is nearly unbelievable.”

They stayed there for a few nights until Kyahshi woke up. Arcanine explained what Hvit had told her about the Kekkei Genkai, Demon Blade. Hvit then said, “Well putting the Demon Blade aside, we don’t have anyone here who can teach you how to water bend, Kyahshi.”

Kyahshi said, “That’s okay. During that last fight, I used my demon’s intuition to allow my eyes to see him, but it also allowed me to copy his techniques. I can train on the techniques I copied.”

Over a period of 5 years, Kyahshi became a master water bender using only copied techniques. She also mastered fire bending with Arcanine’s help and perfected the Demon Blade on her own. Then one night, she had a dream. In the dream she saw an enormous garden with flowers everywhere. She sensed an incredible, the like of which she’d never felt before, yet somehow felt a bit like her own. She saw a golden gem, which she presumed to be the final demon gem. In the morning, she, Hvit, and Arcanine flew to the garden she had seen. She couldn’t feel energy anything like what she felt in her dream. She heard a voice behind her say, “Welcome to my garden.” She turned around to see a man with a sword tied to his belt standing there.

Kyahshi said, “Hello, I’m…”

Before she had time to finish, the man said, “You are Kyahshi, a half-demon/half-elf sent here by her parents to preserve her life. This is the helper they sent named Hvit. This is the Arcanine that raised you as one of her own and that you call ‘Mom.’ You have come here following your demon’s intuition seeking the 4th and final demon elemental gem, yet you know not what happens when all 4 come together.”

Kyahshi was stunned and she stumbled over her words as she said, “How did you know all that?”

The man said, “My name is Kyoji. I have the final demon gem, the demon earth gem. By using its power to sync with the planet, I have gained vast knowledge. It can show me all things that are happening on the planet, as well as things yet to happen. The planet foretold me of your coming.”

“Do you know what happens when all 4 gems come together?”

Kyoji nodded. “The 4 gems’ powers combined have the power to alter reality to grant one wish.”

Kyahshi said, “So what so I have to do to get that gem from you?”

“You must prove your worth by defeating me in battle.”

Kyahshi instantly charged at him. He put his hand out and blocked her and shoved her back. “I won’t be beaten that easily. I’ve synced with the planet. I have gained the untold power that lies within. You must clear your heart and focus if you wish to beat me.”

Kyahshi focused her demon’s intuition into her eyes to try the copy strategy again. Kyoji drew his sword, then performed 5 hand signs and turned it into 2. Kyahshi drew her long swords. They both charged at each other and both raised their swords to slash the other. When Kyahshi slashed Kyoji, he disappeared and all that was left were his swords. She turned around and swung at Kyoji who was coming from her left. The same disappearing act happened again. The attack repeated from her right, then from behind. After the 4th miss, Kyahshi found herself tied up by invisible strings that were connected to the swords and surrounded by 4 Kyoji’s. The Kyoji’s pulled on the swords which flew into Kyahshi, though didn’t hurt her too badly. “That’s one of my favorite techniques. It combines the Shadow Clone Jutsu, the Body Flicker Jutsu, and my personal jutsu, the Double Sword Puppeteer Jutsu. I call the combo 8 Blind Swords Jutsu.” Kyahshi was discouraged. Her demon intuition eyes had failed to predict this. She charged up and shot Demon Blade at Kyoji. Kyoji caught and crushed the Demon Blade, then shot a Demon Blade back at Kyahshi! “The Demon Blade Kekkei Genkai. When you’ve been in sync with the planet as long as I have, bloodline limits mean nothing.” The Demon Blade hit Kyahshi in the shoulder and pinned her to ground. Kyoji flew over to her and began to charge up Demon Blade again. Before he shot it, he said, “You’ve fought well. This is where it ends, but first I’m curious; had you won, what would you have used the demon gems to wish for?”

Kyahshi said, “I’ve been thinking about that for a while now. Everywhere I went, the humans always rejected me. They always tried to kill me. I kept thinking of what it would have been like if they had accepted me. I guess I just wanted to fit in; to not be treated like the plague just because I’m different.”

Kyoji said, “Would that seriously have been your wish? You would have wasted it to fit in when you could have used it to become powerful enough to kill them all?”

“I’m already strong enough to kill them if I want, but that would just lead to absolute destruction. I don’t want to see a world this beautiful world destroyed. I really just want to be accepted.”

Kyoji stopped charging Demon Blade and said, “All right. You’re worthy.”

The blade that was in Kyahshi’s arm disappeared along with the wound it caused. Kyahshi stood up and said, “What? But I didn’t defeat you.”

“You couldn’t have defeated me anyway. I had all the powers that belonged to this planet thanks to the earth gem. What I really wanted to test was the pureness of your heart. I wanted to make sure the gems’ power wouldn’t be used for a destructive purpose.” Kyoji’s 2 swords fused back into one and he took the gold gem out of the sword. He handed it to Kyahshi and said, “Here. Put this in your necklace, then rub the necklace to make your wish.”

She did as instructed and wished for a way to fit in with humans. She closed her eyes and when she opened them, she had turned into a human. “The gems have given you the body of a human, but have allowed you to retain your demon powers.”

“Thank you so much, Kyoji, but will you be able to use your powers now without the gem? Will I be able to use them?”

“I will still be able to use them, but you will not. You see, by syncing with the planet, not only did I gain near infinite wisdom, but also eternal life. I’ve been alive listening to the planet for almost 4,000 years now. It took 2,000 years to be able to learn any techniques from the planet.”

Kyahshi, Hvit, and Arcanine all flew away. They went to town and Hvit posed as Kyahshi’s pet fox, while Arcanine posed as her pokemon. They went into restaurant, and as Kyahshi looked around, no one was staring at her. She fit right in. She was finally able to sit down and enjoy some food without the fear of humans chasing her. She finally was accepted.
