One day, as I’m flying out over the ocean on the world of pokahama, the world inhabited by pokemon and their human partners, I noticed 1 huge tidal wave. I flew in closer to see what was happening. I find an insane Kyogre attacking a city from the ocean. Somehow all of his waves were being stopped by some invisible force. Then, when Kyogre shot his Hyper beam at this invisible force. It was Latios and Latias, fighting to protect this city of Palmacosta. They were hardly able to move. One more strike would have ended them. Just as Kyogre shot his hyper beam, I managed to fly in and block it.
I looked over my shoulder at Latios and said, "Stay out of my way if you want to live."
"Who are you?" Latios asked. Now, unlike normal humans, I'm able understand what pokemon are saying thanks to years of research.
"Didn't you hear me? Get out of the way or you're dead!" I didn't want to yell at Latios, but I had to get him to leave.
Latios picked up Latias and flew to a small island closer to the coast. Kyogre kept trying hyper beam, hydro pump, and even earthquake, none of which had really any effect. "Time to finish this, Kyogre!" I used my favorite spell, Lightning Blade, to shoot a powerful volt of electricity through the water. Kyogre didn't stand a chance. Then I was about to leave when Latios and Latias Came up behind me.
"What do you want? I already took care of Kyogre for you."
"I think Latias might be hurt pretty badly. I can't wake her up. Can you help her in someway?" Latios was practically begging me to help.
"Eh, normally I'm against healing complete strangers, but I guess one exception wouldn't hurt." I put my hands on Latias's head and she started glowing from my healing spell, then she opened her eyes.
Latias asked, "Latios, what happened?" Latios didn't answer her and simply hugged her.
"Your names are Latios and Latias?" I asked, pointing to the appropriate pokemon when I said their names.
"Yeah, but who are you to ask me and my sister's names?" Latios responded
"...I am Kratos, a passing warrior. I noticed trouble out here and decided to check it out, thinking someone needed help. Just look who I ended up saving." Latios glared at me. "Well, if you two don't need my help, I'm leaving. Maybe we'll meet again." I turned to fly away when Latias called out to me. “Is there something else you two need help with, Latias?”
Hesitantly Latias asked, “How did you get so strong Kratos? We’d both like to be that strong."
"Is that all you wanted to ask? Well I suppose, if you're determined enough, that I could train you."
Latios joked, "You won't have to worry about Latias falling behind. When she sets her mind to something, there's no stopping her."
"Latios! Did you just say I'm stubborn?" Latias looked like she was about to punch her brother before I spoke up.
"Well, are you two going to follow me to my house, or do you know the way already?"
That broke up the confrontation pretty quickly. I took off and Latios and Latias followed me, not falling far behind. So, they're pretty fast, I thought to myself. That won't be enough to keep up with my training. We landed next to a large mansion. "Welcome to my house."
Latios struggled to find the words to say. "Y-Y-You live in this big fortress?"
"First, it's not a fortress. Second, this is just my summer get away."
"What are you getting away from? Your own planet?" Heh. If you only knew how right you are, Latios.
"You'd better get some rest for training tomorrow. It won't be easy and you'll need your strength."
I showed them the way to the guest beds and they passed out instantly from exhaustion.
Morning rolled around and Latias woke me up for training long before I would have woken up. Latios was right. She is determined.
The three of us met on my normal training field. "Okay. Before I train you, I need to see what you’re capable of already. I want you to fight me, but don't dare hold back." The siblings didn't move. They carefully watched to see what I’d do. "Well come on. I'm giving you the first move." Both charged straight at me, though I easily blocked them. "Amateur starting move. You'll have to do better than that to hit me."
"Then how about this?" Latias yelled from my left. The Latias I thought I was blocking disappeared. Impressive. she already knows the substitution jutsu. it might be worth it to teach her. I easily blocked this sneak attack.
"That's a third-rate technique, though I must say. it's impressive you know it without having been taught it. Now it's my turn." I threw Latias towards her brother, hitting him and knocking them both down. They got up, looked at each other, nodded, then disappeared. Invisible. these two are just full of surprises. I closed my eyes as they charged at me unable to be seen. Even though I couldn't see them, I still blocked them with little difficulty and threw them back again.
"There's no way you can be human, Kratos. How could you block us perfectly if you couldn't even see us?"
"It's very simple, Latios. While you're flying, I can here the wind on your body. I track you by that wind. "
"Latias, he's good."
"You don't think we’ll have to use our strongest attack, do you Latios?"
"It's starting to seem like that's the only way."
Latios and Latias's eyes began to glow, then their entire bodies were engulfed in light. I've read of this in a book. This is their strongest attack; Luster purge. The light kept growing until it hit me, but it did no more than char my clothes.
"But... But that was our strongest attack. How can you still..." Latias fainted mid
sentence.
It seems using luster purge is no easy matter I'll have to get them to teach it to me when they have better control of their energy.
I took them both back and put them on their beds so they could rest. Over the next few
months, they grew quite impressively in strength, focus, and ability.
When I helped them learned to control their energy better, I asked them to teach me luster purge. Latias eagerly agreed to teach me. One night, as I was about to go to bed, I heard a knock on my door. I opened the door to see Latias. "I thought you and your brother were asleep already."
"Latios is asleep, but I wanted to talk to you. Um, do you think we could sit in the courtyard and talk? There's a full moon out and the stars are really pretty."
"Sounds nice. You go on ahead. I'll meet you there."
Latias was sitting on the bench waiting for me when I got there.
"Did I keep you waiting long, Latias?"
"No. I just got here a minute ago."
Latias let out a deep sigh. "Something bothering you?"
"What? O-Of course not."
"Don't lie to me Latias. I can find you when you're invisible. I can just as easily tell when something's on your mind. You and Latios aren’t the only psychic ones around here." Latias sighed again. "Now, what's bothering you?"
"Well, it's not so much that something's bothering me. I just have something I have to confess to you."
Latias hesitated to go on. “I’m listening, Latias.”
“Well, Latios and I have been here a while, and in that time I think I’ve come to like you a lot. Actually, you might even be able to say that… That…I love you.”
“What? I couldn’t hear you.” Latias had whispered her last sentence so quietly that even my acute sense of hearing couldn’t pick up what she said.
“I said, I think that I love you!” I nearly fell over out of surprise. “I knew it. I was stupid to say anything about it. There’s no way you could love me. I’m just a student.” Latias flew away before I had a chance to say anything to her.
She still joined Latios and me for training, even though she didn’t say much. Latios couldn’t even get two words out of her. She’s really upset about this. I didn’t even have a chance to say anything last night. She’s probably too nervous to open up to me.
That night, Latios came to Latias’s room and knocked on her door. “Latias. Kratos told me about your meeting with him last night. He said you ran out on him. Maybe you’d like to go for a flight with me and talk about it?”
“O-okay. I’ll meet you in the courtyard. Go on ahead.” Latios went out to wait for Latias who wasn’t too far behind.
“So, Latias, what exactly happened last night before you ran out on Kratos?”
“Well, first I have to tell you how I feel towards Kratos. In the past few months that we’ve been training with him, I feel like I’ve come to… Ooh. I can’t say it. It’s too embarrassing.”
“Latias, I’m your brother. Whatever it is, I promise I won’t laugh.”
Hesitantly, Latias responded to her brother. “Well, I…I feel like I’ve come to love him.”
“I don’t see why that would embarrass you. There’s nothing wrong with who you choose to love.”
“But there’s no way he could love me the same way that I love him. I mean, I’m a pokemon and he’s a human.”
“That didn’t stop you from falling in love with him did it? Who’s to say it would stop him from falling in love with you? Love is a very mysterious thing that way. You don’t know who it will touch.”
“But after I ran out on him, there’s no chance he could love me now.”
“I wouldn’t be so sure of that.”
“What makes you so sure?”
“Because…” Then Latios transformed into me, or more accurately, back into me, much to Latias’s surprise. “You’ve been talking with Kratos this entire time.”
“I can’t believe it. Now I know there’s no way you could love me after hearing that.”
“Now what’s with this change of heart? That wasn’t the tune you were singing when you thought I was Latios. Nothing from that conversation has changed. The only reason I transformed into Latios was because I knew you were too nervous to open up to me, but I knew you’d talk to your brother. When I said, ‘Who’s to say it would stop me from falling in love with you’ I meant that.”
“What are you trying to say?”
“I guess what I’m trying to say is that I love you, too.”
“Do you really mean that or are you just trying to keep me from crying?”
“Look in my eyes and judge for yourself whether or not I’m lying.” Latias looked into my eyes and a smile came to her face.
“You were telling the truth. You really do love me.”
“And I’m ready to prove it.” We both moved closer for a kiss as a cloud blocked the moonlight. “Latias, I think it’s about time that you and Latios come stay with me at my home.”
“Do you really mean that?”
“If you don’t want to, I won’t force you.”
“No no. I want to. It just seemed like you were kidding. Up until now, you haven’t said anything about your home at all. I can’t say for sure whether or not Latios will want to come. I can try to talk him into it.”
“While you do that, I have some preparations to make back home. I’ll be back for you as soon as I can.”
“Well…Okay. See you when you get back.”
“See ya.” I flew off into the moonlight away from the mansion. When I was a decent distance away, I landed on a rock and made the hand signs for my teleportation spell to take me to my home planet. When I arrived I was instantly greeted by the royal guards and escorted to the castle, where I reign as king of the dragon world. I immediately began working out the papers to allow Latios and Latias to stay on my planet legally.
Little did I know when I teleported that Latias had followed me. She copied my teleportation and ended herself up right in the middle of the dragon military training ground, where she was caught on the spot. The commander contacted me via magi- technology; a very advanced type of technology powered by magic.
“Your majesty, we had captured an infidel attempting to learn our military secrets and launch an attack to overthrow the kingdom. What are your orders on dealing with her?”
“Bring her to me. I shall handle this matter personally.”
“Yes your majesty.”
“Where are you brutes taking me?” Latias was fighting against their hold to try to get free.
“His majesty, Kratos has ordered us to take you to him. Depending on his mood, you may or may not get to keep that pretty head of yours.”
When Latias was brought before me, my heart sank. Oh, no! She followed me here. I can’t order her executed, but I can’t let her off scott-free after she ended up in the military grounds. “Hmm…Bring the perpetrator and make her stand in front of me.” Just as I ordered, Latias was brought in front of me. “I must say, you are quite bold to infiltrate our military training grounds by yourself. What is your name?” Latias didn’t say a word. “The strong, silent type, are you? Very well then. If you won’t tell me, then I’ll tell you, Latias.”
“How did you know that?!” Latias exclaimed.
“Oh please. Reading people’s minds is a third rate psychic ability. Will you talk now, or shall I continue to speak for you?”
“…All right. I’ll talk.”
“Compliance. I like that in anyone. Now answer this. Who are you working for?”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“I mean who were you trying to gather information for? You infiltrated our military training facility and you’re clearly not from around this area, which can only mean you’re working with some sort of resistance to bring me down.”
“I wasn’t working for anybody or trying to get info on your military.”
“Why did you come here then?”
“I came here following my teacher, who told me that my brother and I would get to stay at his house. I followed him when he teleported here, but I didn’t teleport to the right place.”
“It seems you’re telling the truth, but you might be thinking that just to throw me off. We can’t let you go with that risk.”
“Your majesty. What is her conviction?”
“I will not pass judgment yet. For the time being, put her in the prison. And don’t fall for her invisibility trick. She can use the feathers on her body to take on a different appearance or even disappear.”
“Get moving, you scum bag.”
“Warden! Hear me and hear me well because I’m only going to say this once. Though she is a prisoner, you are not to lay a hand on her. Violate this order in anyway and you will be the one in prison. Understand?”
“Yes your majesty.”
Latias was taken off to the dungeon and put in one of the larger cells to allow her to stretch her wings. “Let me out of here, you big galoot!” The guard simply walked away.
A voice from behind Latias said, “Hey. What are you in for?” Latias whirled around to see another nearly starved human in the cell with her.
“I teleported to this world, but accidentally ended up on the military training grounds.”
The man said, “I was captured trying to get info to overthrow the king, which I assume is the charge against you.”
“Actually, the king read my mind and said that wasn’t my intention. He even told the guards not to lay a hand on me and to give me larger food rations than all the other prisoners, like he was watching out for me or something.”
“Fancy that. Regardless, there’s no way out of here, so you might as well get used to it.”
The guard came back with their rations of gruel. “They barely provide us enough food to stay alive. Be thankful the king told them to give you more. It’s a first.” The man finished his gruel, but his stomach was still growling loudly. “What’s your name anyway?”
“It’s Latias. What’s yours?”
“I’m Lloyd.” His stomach was growling even louder. Latias went over, picked up his bowl, and poured half of what remained in her bowl into his. “You’re giving me part of your rations? I couldn’t possibly take it. You need your strength, too”
“Not as much as you do. You’ve been here a long time, never getting enough to eat. Since I’ve been given the privilege of extra, the least I can do is share with those who have less.”
“Thank you very much, Latias.” Lloyd quickly ate what Latias had given him. “Man, I really wish someone would beat the king and set us free.”
“What? Set you free? I thought you said there was no way out of here.”
“There is one. If a prisoner challenges the king in combat and wins, that prisoner is allowed to go free, but if they lose, they die. If the challenger chooses to, they can also fight for the release of another prisoner as well as themselves, but if they lose, both prisoners die. It’s a law the king passed to give prisoners some hope, but no one has ever won or even come close. He has the power of the legendary Kaiser dragon, said in legend to have been defeated only by Kratos.”
“I’ll challenge him.”
“It would be suicide. No offense, but you wouldn’t last two seconds against his full power.”
“Well I can’t just sit here and do nothing. My master is waiting here for me somewhere in this world. He can’t find me if I’m in jail. I have to get out and find him. And you’ve been here so long. It’s only fair that you finally get a chance at freedom.”
“Well if you want to fight for your freedom, I won’t stop you, but I don’t want you to take me down with you. There’s no way you can win.”
“My master once told me, ‘Latias. If you really set your mind to something, you can do anything.’ He was right.”
“How can you be so certain he wasn’t just getting your hopes up?”
“Because I love him, but for the longest time, I was too nervous to show it or say anything. When he said that, it gave me the confidence to confess how I felt.”
“You’re bold, Latias. Very well. Then I’ll fight along side you.”
When the guard returned, Latias told him of their challenge against the king, Kratos; me in other words. He sent a messenger to tell him. Meanwhile, I was trying to come up with a way to get Latias out of jail. I had just come up with a brilliant idea when there was a knock on the door. “I’m sorry to bother you, your majesty, but you have a challenge from a pair of prisoners seeking freedom.”
“Who are the prisoners?”
“Latias and her cell mate, your excellency.”
“…Very good. Dismissed.” The messenger bowed and left. “Now what will I do? I can’t kill Latias in the arena and I can’t spring her in one night. This is a dilemma.”
The next day, I entered the arena, waiting for Latias and Lloyd to be brought in. In short order, they were pushed through the gate at the other side of the arena. “I always knew you were a bold one, Latias, but I didn’t think you’d actually challenge me.”
“I have to earn my freedom at any cost.”
“I gave you increased rations because I believed you really weren’t guilty, but I won’t hold back in a fight.”
“I know. Neither will I.” Latias carefully watched me to see what my first move would be.
“Well? I’m giving you the first move.”
This is just like the first time Latios and I fought Kratos, Latias thought to herself. Lloyd instantly charged at me.
“Oh please.” Lloyd ran straight into my jab, killing him instantly.
“Latias, I-I’m sorry,”
“Impressive attack, isn’t it? I call it Lightning Blade. It builds up energy in my hand, turning it into an invincible blade and shooting all that energy into it’s target on contact, normally killing them right away.”
“You monster! I’ll rip you apart limb from limb.”
“You want to kill me? Go ahead and try.” Latias made the hand signs for the Great Mud River jutsu, surrounding me in a swirling torrent of mud that collapsed in on me.
“You’ll have to do better than that!” The mud around me began to grow hotter, then shot upward under me in a blast of fire. Volcano jutsu. I didn’t think she could use that yet. “You’re stronger than I expected, but that won’t be enough to stop me. Now it’s my turn. Shadow Clone Ju-. What? I can’t move my body.”
“Impressed? I caught you using my master’s Shadow Possession Jutsu. Now you’re forced to mirror my movements.”
“Clever, but what good will that do you? If you attack me, I’ll attack you because of that jutsu.”
Latias began building up energy to shoot at me. Due to the Shadow Possession, I was doing the same. “Well I’ll take that chance.” She fired the energy at me and I at her. “Let’s see who ducks first!” Just before the energy hit her, she did a Matrix, bending over backwards to dodge. Big deal. I’ll just do the same thing. I did the same since I had to copy her and I smacked my head on the arena wall. I stood up and looked towards Latias.
“That was very good. You knew you’re volcano couldn’t hurt me, so you used it to push me back so you could use the wall to your advantage. This should be a fun fight.”
The battle raged on, blow being exchange for blow, jutsu for jutsu. Amazing! She’s become much stronger since last night. “You’re good, Latias, but I can sense you’re tiring out and you haven’t made one hit on me since that Shadow Possession.” Latias floated, panting. “To show you I’m a good sport, I’ll give you one free attack. Hit me with the best thing you’ve got.”
It’s now or never. If I don’t put him down with this attack, it’s over. Maybe I can use his attack against him. This thought raced through Latias’s mind. “Well? Are you going to attack me or are you going to surrender?”
Latias got a serious look on her face and yelled, “I never surrender! I think I’ll take your technique for a spin.” She began to charge up energy in her hand. “You should easily recognize it. It’s your favorite. Lightning Blade!” She charged forward and hit in the chest with the Lightning Blade.
The pain was unbearable. I knew I couldn’t stay in the world of the living much longer. “…I lose. Congratulations, Latias. You’ve beaten me; the king of this world. According to the customs I set, since you have beaten me, you are free to go. I will return you to your home world. Place your hand on my shoulder.” She put her hand on my shoulder and I teleported us both back to my mansion in pokahama.
“Thank you, your majesty.”
“Heh. During your stay in the prison, I was ‘Your majesty.’ At all other times, you call me by a different name.” I transformed back to my regular self, lacking the energy to maintain the Kaiser transformation any longer. “You know me as master Kratos.”
“Kratos!! But how? How could I have not recognized it?”
“It’s because of the golden form I take as the Kaiser dragon.” Latios came out to hear what the commotion was.
“If it was you the entire time, why didn’t you just say something?”
“I couldn’t. Even though I am the king, I can’t just choose people are innocent by my own feelings. I had to stay in disguise for the citizens. I had to in order to help you escape. If I hadn’t told them to take you to the prison, they would have killed you instantly. If I hadn’t told them not to lay a hand on you, they would have tortured you to no end. It looks like in the end, I managed to get you out, but not before you hit me with my strongest attack, Lightning Blade. I probably won’t make it.”
“Don’t say that. You told me that you can do anything you set your mind to. There has to be a way to save you.”
“ I wish there was, but you hit me right in the heart. The fact that I’ve held on this long is amazing, but my time grows short.”
“That means I’ll never see you again.”
“Now who ever said that? I might be leaving now, but one day, you will follow. Everyone will. Death is just as mysterious as love. In this world, we are no more, but our spirits carry on. I have but one request before I move on. Latias, give me one last kiss before I move on.” Latias lifted my head up for a long, tender kiss. “Goodbye Latias. But remember; it’s not forever.”
Latias began to cry. Latios tried to comfort her. “You really loved him, didn’t you? He gave his life for you. He loved you more than his own life.”
“No. It’s like he said. It’s goodbye, but it’s not forever. One day, we’ll meet again, but right now, I just want to cry alone.”
“I understand. I’ll be inside if you need me.”
“Kratos, we’ll meet again someday.” Latias thought she could hear my spirit say, “I’ll wait for you forever.”
