Act 28

The Reunion of the Senshi

Transcribed By: Chieko-chan

Girl Luna sits at a table and recaps the previous act. She introduces herself and explains how she became a girl by the light of the Silver Crystal. She suddenly sneezes and returns to her cat form. She says she can be more useful to Sailor Moon and remembers bonking Kunzite on the head with her fan, then his retaliation blast, turning her back into a cat. Luna explains that at least she thought she’s be useful.

In the lobby of a building, Sailor Moon blocks Dark Mercury’s sword with her moonstick. The sword hits the weapon, causing the crystal crescent moon to shatter. Moon’s eyes close and she falls to the floor, causing Dark Mercury to smile. Suddenly her smile disappears and she approaches Moon calling her name hesitantly. When she doesn’t answer, Mercury pulls Moon onto her lap. The gold and pink tiara falls off and hits the floor, breaking in half. Mercury lets out a heart-wrenching scream. In the background, Kunzite tells her to leave and grabs her to pull her away when she doesn’t answer. She goes limp and when he lets go, she crawls back over to Moon and reaches for her hand. Kunzite brings them all to the Dark Kingdom, sweeping his cape around them.

Cat Luna runs over calling Usagi’s name. She sees that she’s alone and looks down sadly at the broken crystal moonstick and tiara.

In one of the caves of the Dark Kingdom, Kunzite appears and calls for Mercury. when she doesn’t answer, he stomps his foot and wonders where she is.

In a dark, mist filled forest, Ami sits on the bank of a pond, stroking Usagi’s hair. The latter lies unconscious, her head lying on Ami’s lap. As the waterfall tumbles down, tears fall from her eyes into her friend’s face. One tear falls with a plop and Usagi stirs, opening her eyes. Ami’s eyes widen and Usagi says she’s glad Ami came back to them. The troubled girl chokes back a sob, then starts to cry, throwing her arms around Usagi’s neck. Usagi happily manages to tell Ami that it hurts with her holding so tightly. Ami rests her cheek on Usagi’s forehead and continues to cry.

Kunzite watches the two girls through a space on his sword’s blade. He’s upset that Mercury failed to cross over because of Sailor Moon and has been taken out of hands. He slams the sword back into it’s sheath and sneers that it’s fine since they are in the Dark Kingdom’s garden. With a sweep of his cape, he walks away, planning to amuse himself.

Usagi and Ami walk through the forest and arrive at a clearing with statues spotted across it. Usagi stops, wondering what it is and turns back to Ami when her friend doesn’t answer. Usagi smiles and reassures the girl that everything’s okay; she’s not hurt. Ami ignores her and Usagi keeps trying to reassure her explaining that the moonstick probably acted as a shield. Ami sadly looks at her without responding then looks down again, her eyes coming to rest on the transformation band on her wrist. She gasps and rips it off, flinging to the ground. She turns away from Usagi, who asks if she remembers anything. Ami shakes her head replying that she remembers Usagi, though, and asks how long she was like that and what she did. Usagi says that she was turned into their enemy, but quickly switches to her cheerful face when she sees Ami’s downcast look. she explains that she was manipulated, she’s not evil, so she doesn’t have to worry about it. When Ami still doesn’t answer, Usagi changes the subject and takes Ami’s hand leading her saying that they should hurry and find a way home. The sound of the moonstick crystal shattering echoes through Ami’s head, and the scene of Sailor Moon fainting. She thinks that if that was what she did to Usagi, she must have been horrible to everyone else. She squeezes shut her eyes.

Kunzite walks around a chessboard where two white pawn are sitting in the center. He smiles, placing a black pawn in front of them.

As the two girls walk through the forest, an explosion causes them to fall down; Usagi with a scream. A very freaky-looking youma jumps down from the trees. Usagi stands. “Moon Prism Power!” The crescent moon aligns with the brooch, but then the light fades. Usagi stares at her normal clothes wondering why she can’t transform. As the youma tosses it’s staff back and forth in it’s hands, Usagi turns back to Ami, who’s still sitting on the ground, and calls at her to leave. Ami stares off into space. Usagi grabs her arm and asks what she’s doing. She drags her friend off, away from the youma.

Kunzite watches the girls through the chessboard. He says to Mercury, even though she can’t see or hear him, that he will overlook their short friendship if she can escape. That is, if Mercury herself can.

Usagi drags Ami through the forest, telling her to hurry.

In the Crown Karaoke Room, Mako and Rei sit at the table, having finished reading Usagi’s letter. Girl Luna bounds into the room and down the stairs, announcing there’s trouble. Mako sighs at seeing the girl again and tells her to come back later, since right now they’re in a mess. She gets up and pushes the girl gently towards the stairs, telling her to go home. The girl tries to protest, but it’s Rei who stops Mako. The two turn to her as Rei stands up. She asks the girl if she’s Luna, causing Mako to look back at the girl. Luna smiles approvingly and then sends a scolding look at Mako, who’s having a harder time understanding.

A little whole later, all three girls are sitting around the table, Luna having brought them up-to-date on Dark Mercury. Mako asks if Usagi really has been taken by the enemy and Luna says she thinks Ami has returned to normal. Rei asks why she didn’t tell them, and Luna explains that if they all had gone, Ami might not have woken up, and she was willing to take the risk since Ami was on the verge of coming back. Mako says that it’s bad Usagi and Ami have been captured and Rei starts to ask Luna what they could do, only to find the young girl asleep with her head on the table. She chokes on what she was about to say. They both look at the sleeping girl in disbelief. Mako pokes Luna on the head, can’t believing their mentor fell asleep. Sighing, Rei remarks that her cat tendencies remain. Luna purrs, rubbing her face with her first. She glows and reverts back to her cat form, sleeping comfortably. Rei turns to Mako and says they have no choice but to ask Venus and Artemis for help, since they don’t have time to pick and choose a strategy. Mako points out that they don’t even know where Venus is. Rei pauses then says she knows.

In the Dark Kingdom’s forest, Usagi and Ami run like crazy, the former telling her friend to run faster. They stop in a small clearing bathed in sunlight and catch their breaths. Usagi looks around asking if the youma’s gone, but noticing instead the group of statues from before. She wonders how they managed to get back to the same place again. The youma’s hand reaches from behind one of the statues causing Usagi’s eyes to widen and grab Ami’s hand telling her to run. They run off into the forest.

Kunzite watches them from his room and slams a second black pawn in front of the moving white pieces.

The ground starts to tremble, causing Usagi and Ami to lose their balance. They fall to the ground and tumble down an incline.

In the Dark Kingdom’s main chamber, Jadeite kneels in front of Queen Beryl. She remarks that Kunzite seems to be making trouble, and Jadeite replies that he’s playing with the senshi like they were children, and he has no clue what he’s planning. Beryl says it’s all right and for Jadeite to get his hands at once on the Silver Crystal as soon as the chance presents itself.

A crowd of screaming fans gather outside a radio station with signs reading “Minako.”

Inside, through the glass windows, the DJ is waving at the fans when the technician cues him to start. The DJ goes on air and announces that their special guest of the week has arrived; Minako Aino! The young idol walks in wearing a really neat outfit and carrying a matching purse. Everyone cheers as she sits across from the DJ. She leans towards the microphone and wishes everyone a god afternoon and introduces herself. The DJ welcomes her and says it’s nice to meet her.

Standing away from the crowd, Makoto’s eyes widen is disbelief that Aino Minako and Sailor Venus are one in the same. Next to her, Rei looks down and explains that she thought it would be better if only she knew, causing a glare from Mako. Rei says she’ll apologize for keeping it a secret and walks off, pouting. Mako grins as Rei enters the crowd and muses that it seems Luna’s not the only one who’s changed. Still smiling, she follows Rei into the crowd.

Back inside, Minako is continuing with the interview and the DJ replies that it’s something to look forward to. He goes on to say today’s FM top 10 welcomes Ms. Aino Minako, and they’ll be airing the interview about her new CD. If anyone has questions for Minako or want to hear their favorite Minako song to... As he keeps talking, Minako looks towards the fans and catches sight of Mako and Rei in the front row starring at her. The smile fades and she nudges her purse under the table with her cool shoes. Artemis pokes his head out questionably.

Mako carries Artemis as she and Rei run up to the building where Sailor Moon and Dark Mercury had fought earlier. Artemis explains that if Kunzite traveled through dimensions the gate would not yet be completely closed and if they could get to the gateway, they might be able to do something. Mako says Luna told them that the fight was in the lobby of the building. They open the front doors and step into-- a garage. They open the nearest door and step into a hallway where the physical space curves abnormally. Artemis exclaims that the dimension’s been distorted. Mako asks what that means and he explains that there might’ve been some trouble when the dimensions were crossed; this will be hard. Rei asks if there is any way to get to the lobby and he answers that one door will have to lead to the lobby and they’ll have to look one door at a time, and, if they don’t hurry, the gateway will close. The girl’s eyes widen and Mako tucks Artemis into her jacket, telling him to fall. He squeaks out his agreement and the two girls run down the distorted hallway.

In the forest, Usagi and Ami roll down the incline and come to a stop. Usagi looks up and sees Dark Mercury’s transformation band lying on the ground. They sit up and find themselves in the exact same clearing as before. Usagi wonders what’s going on and Ami lowers her face, apologizing. Usagi cuts her friend off trying to reassure the tortured girl that it’s not her fault. She stands up to leave, but Ami stays sitting on the ground. Usagi turns back to Ami and asks if she’s hurt, to which the latter shakes her head. Usagi demands to know what’s wrong because she’s been acting strange. Ami replies that she can’t go home because she’s done such horrible things to them, prompting Usagi to sit next to her. She tells her it was because she was being controlled. There’s nothing they can do about it and we’re all friends, so nobody blames her. Ami shakes her head and murmurs that she can no longer be Usagi’s friend. The youma screeches in the distance and Usagi tells Ami it’s time to go, but the girl asks her friend to go on alone. Usagi grabs her friend’s arm and pulls her to her feet, asking what she means; calling her an idiot. Ami gasps as Usagi continues to tug at her arm, exclaiming she doesn’t care about it anymore, when Ami was Dark Mercury. She reaches over, gives the girl’s rear end a slap and pulls her off into the forest. Ami winces and rubs the spot Usagi hit and tells her that was mean. Usagi retorts that Ami’s the one being mean because she doesn’t think of them as friends. That whatever happens there’s no way she and the others would hate Ami, and that she (Ami) doesn’t believe in them. Ami thinks a moment, clenches her fist and knock’s on Usagi’s head. Usagi yelps out in pain, letting go of her friend’s hand and turning to face her. Tears glisten in Ami’s eyes as she explains that she can’t believe in them. Everyone was all scattered around. They didn’t gather at the Crown, didn’t fight together in battles; it didn’t seem like they were friends. She continues that she believed everything would return to the way it was, but somewhere in her heart, she felt it was all over. The girls stand in silence for a little while, when the youma suddenly appears next to them. They scream and run off.

In his cave, Kunzite watches the retreat of the white pawns. He comments they’re doing good and slams another black pawn down. From behind a wall, Nephrite watches Kunzite.

Usagi and Ami climb up a steep hill. On reaching the top first, Usagi turns back and reaches a hand out to help Ami. She stares at it for a moment then grabs it. Usagi pulls her up thinking that they all are changing, little by little.

Rei and Mako run through the building, opening doors.

Usagi continues to think that maybe everyone’s not as close as Ami wants them to be...

Rei and Mako run down a hallway.

...but everyone wanted her to return, and that was real. The two girls sit on the ground, breathing heavily and share a relieved smile. Usagi turns away and sees Dark Mercury’s band lying in the grass again. She whines, wondering why they can’t get out, since they were able to enter and Ami realizes that there has to be a way out. Usagi pouts that there’s no exit and Ami explains that the exit from here is the entrance from there, causing her friend to wonder what she means. Ami says they’re the same and to go back to the spot where they arrives. She jumps up and leads Usagi off into the forest.

The two white pawns return to their original places. Kunzite murmurs that they must have figured it out. With a sweep of his cape, he leaves the room.

The two girls walk over a small creek, after which Usagi trips and falls. Ami turns back to help her and the youma jumps, screeching. The girls gasp, Ami grabs Usagi’s hand, and they run off away from the youma.

Rei and Mako pause at the top of some stairs and hesitate, not sure where to go. Artemis orders them to hurry since they’re out of time. They nod and continue their search.

Ami and Usagi run through the forest until they reach the waterfall where they had arrived earlier.

Mako and Rei continue to open doors one after the other until they find the one that leads to the lobby. They hunch over breathing hard, when Mako notices where they actually are. Artemis brings their attention to a rip on the space at the center of the room, that’s opening.

The gateway opens in the forest and the faces of Mako and Rei show through to Usagi and Ami. Usagi cries out their names as the four girls look at each other. Usagi smiles widely, but Ami looks down at the ground. Rei and Mako raise out their hands and Usagi follows suit. Ami hesitates, but seeing her friend’s happy faces she smiles and holds out her hand. All four hands meet in the center of the gateway causing a bright light to shine. Usagi closes her eyes and when she opens them, all four girls stand in the building’s lobby. She happily exclaims they got out and Mako and Rei run towards them, calling Ami’s name. They all smile at each other until the sound of footsteps causes them to look over and take defensive stances as Kunzite and the forest youma approach. Smirking, he announces that he will personally end this game. “Moon Prism Power!” “Mars Power!” “Jupiter Power!” “Mercury Power!” “...Make-Up!” Transformed, they stand in a line behind Sailor Moon. “Ai to seigi no, seera fuku bishoujo senshi, seera muun! Tsuki ni kawatte...” The senshi step out a pose beside each other. “...oshioki yo!” Sailor’s Mars and Jupiter take on the youma as Sailor’s Moon and Mercury fight Kunzite. He raises his sword at Moon and brings it down, but a chain shoots out and blocks it. Sailor Venus stands a bit away and commands the senshi to combine the power of their Star Tambourines around Sailor Moon. Jupiter and Mars bring out their Tambourines, but Mercury looks clueless about the new weapons. Sailor Luna runs in calling Mercury’s name and tells her to catch as she tosses her the Mercury Star Tambourine. She catches it and looks down at it. Moon smiles and looks down at her recovered Moon Stick. The senshi prepare for their brightly colored attack. “Moonlight Attractive Attack!” Kunzite uses his cape to shield himself, but the youma’s not so lucky, taking the brunt of the attack and obliterates. Jupiter happily acknowledges they did it, when Kunzite calls out “Mercury.” She turns to see his sword coming towards her and squeezes her eyes shut. But another sword blocks the attack. Both Kunzite and Sailor Mercury look up to see Nephrite blocking Kunzite’s sword. “What do you think you’re doing?!” Nephrite answers he felt like interfering, then pushes Kunzite away from Mercury. Kunzite glares at his fellow general, calling him a fool, and disappears back to the Dark Kingdom. Nephrite looks back at Mercury, who looks at him, bewildered. He sweeps over his cape and returns to the Dark Kingdom, probably confused himself why he saved her.

Sailor Mercury looks down sadly, then determination fills her and she turns to face her friends, who are all smiling at her. Jupiter welcomes her home, Mars says they’ve been waiting, and Moon utters her friend’s name. Luna, now in cat form, climbs up on Mercury’s shoulder and echoes Ami’s name. Mercury looks at Luna, then at her friends, a smile wreathing her face as tears start to fall. She thanks everyone, saying she’s back, and runs into their arms. The opening song concludes as they all embrace. Venus stands a bit away, watching the reunion, a small smile on her face. Artemis has climbed up on her shoulder and is watching as well.
