Act 2

ACT 2

Flashbacks from the first episode with Usagi narrating.

Opening

In the Dark Kingdom, Queen Beryl asks if it’s true that one of the Sailor Senshi have awakened. Jadeite answers in the affirmative, which doesn’t please Beryl, who doesn’t want the troublesome girls to destroy her plan again. She holds out her hand and an amber crystal shoots into Jadeite’s hand, and she orders him to keep collecting energy from humans. The end of the Earth is at hand and she visualizes the Earth and Moon being enveloped in darkness.

At the Crown Karaoke Center, Furuhata Motoki is at the front counter starring at a turtle in a glass tank. Usagi comes bouncing in and flashes a card with a picture of Luna on it and the word “Passport” on top. Motoki looks at it and says she can go in with her yearly pass. Usagi walks away with a large smile on her face. Motoki turns back to the turtle and wonders if they even have yearly passports.

Usagi enters a room and the door dissolves into the wall. She walks down the staircase as she looks around. There are candy dispensers, many colored glass bottles, a yellow lava lamp, bouquets of flowers, a table and chairs, a flat-screened computer, and the flat-screened karaoke machine. Usagi goes over to it and picks up the book of songs. She asks Luna what this place is. Luna, who had been in Usagi’s bag, replies that it’s the command center. That only the senshi can enter. Flipping through the book, Usagi comes across a page of Aino Minako’s songs from her new album ‘Venus’. Luna explains that they can use this room for meetings on how to seal away the coming evil. And that they must find the Princess, the Silver Crystal, and the other senshi. Then she realizes that Usagi hasn’t been listening. Instead, she has taken out her cellphone and transforms herself into a rocker-type girl. She explains that she took a picture of a cool-looking girl she passed. Luna lectures her that it isn’t a game. Usagi is about to sing when she suddenly turns back to the table and dumps the contents of her bag out on it, remembering the test she has the next day. Luna sighs, giving up.

The next day at school, Usagi and Naru stand with a crowd of students looking at the testy rankings. Naru is number fifteen and Usagi slumps down wondering why she’s not as smart. Naru then points at the number one name, Mizuno Ami, the class genius. Usagi notices Ami-chan standing alone off to the side and says she doesn’t look too happy. Two of their friends walk up and mention that Ami is always number one and that she attends the famous Alt Cram School and all she ever does is study. One of the girls remark that she doesn’t seem to have any interest in anything else and that she has no friend. Usagi asks about the two girls who have approached Ami to ask her to study with them. But the friends answers that they just want to get close to Ami because her mother is a famous doctor. Ami walks away. Usagi wonders if Ami is a genius, she must be someone from another world.

At lunch, Usagi is laughing with her friends, and taking pieces of their food, while Ami gets up with her lunch and leaves alone. Usagi watches her go, concerned.

Outside, Ami sits alone reading a book on mathematics while eating her lunch. Luna looks around a corner at her as her crescent moon glows blue. She murmurs that it was reacting to something other than just Usagi. Could Ami be a senshi?

After school, Ami walks over a bridge where she comes across Luna. She looks to see if anyone’s around. Not far away, Usagi says good-bye to Naru and walks across the bridge where she sees Ami leaning over Luna. She wonders why Luna’s there as Ami picks the doll up, and dusting it off, reassures Luna that someone should come by and get her if she waits. Usagi runs over, calling her name and mentioning that it’s hers. Ami says it was on the ground, then walks away. Usagi picks up Luna and catches up with Ami. She remarks that Ami is even polite to stuffed animals. She replies that’s because she never met the cat before. Usagi says that Ami’s really interesting.

Usagi walks alongside Ami, chattering happily when the latter says she has to go to Cram School. Usagi waves good-bye but follows her when Ami stops in front of a poster of Aino Minako hanging in a shop window where “C’est la vie” is playing. Usagi asks if Ami also likes Minako’s singing to which Ami replies that it helps her to memorize things. Usagi asks if she’s bought the new album yet. Ami shakes her head so Usagi hands her a copy of it. Usagi calls her “Ami-chan” and says that she can call her “Usagi”. Ami leaves as Usagi calls after her that they should eat lunch together. She remarks that Ami is really just a normal girl, nothing like everyone says she is. Luna jump down and states that Ami-chan isn’t a normal girl. she’s a senshi. Her crescent moon glows blue as she looks up at Usagi and says that they finally found the second one!

Ami has changed into regular clothes and enters the Alt Cram School. The teacher comes up to her and tells her that she has the highest results in the school. With those she can get into any high school and even college she wants. Ami says that she wants to go to medical school, to which the teacher asks why she wants to be a doctor so much. Ami answers that it would make her mother happy and studying’s the only thing she’s good at. She pulls out the disc Usagi had lent hr and remembers the invitation for lunch together. She smiles, clutching the disc.

That night, Usagi is holding her pillow and saying how lucky it is that Ami is a senshi. She’s smart, interesting, a fan of Aino Minako, and cute. Luna remarks that the intelligence aspect is lacking in the current senshi, to which Usagi responds by throwing her pillow at the cat. She happily jumps into bed, excited about telling Ami. Luna struggles out from under the pillow and mutters that Usagi has no seriousness in her at all.

That same night, Jadeite enters the Alt Cram School and places a crystal on a clay stature of a soldier and dog, turning it into two youma’s. the soldier attacks the cram school teacher.

The next day, Usagi runs up to Ami and excitedly tells her that she wanted to see her so much, she ran to school. She pulls her off to the side and tells her that she’s a senshi and they should fight together. Ami grows quiet at the news. Usagi asks if she wants to be a senshi. Ami says that Usagi only began to be nice to her because she’s a senshi. she almost drops the white box she’s carrying, the states she doesn’t want to be a senshi because she’s too busy with studying and cram school. She runs off, even though Usagi tries to call her back.

Later that day at lunch, Usagi looks over at Ami’s empty seat.

Outside, Ami sits alone and opens the white box which holds two custard containers, one for hr, one for Usagi. She sighs, saying she’s used to it, then walks away leaving it there.

After school, Usagi sits at her desk, sad because she wanted to fight with Ami. Luna says she will convince her, but Usagi doesn’t want to force her, if she doesn’t want to be a senshi. She starts to leave the room, but Ikuko-mama stands in the doorway with a map to the cram school Usagi will be attending from now on, to get her grades up. Usagi sighs unhappily.

At Cram School, Ami sits in class and pulls out Usagi’s disc. She pushes the disc in the player to listen to, instead of the math lecture the teacher is giving. She tells the students to listen very carefully, but under the words is a scraping noise. The Youma flashes in place of the teacher for a moment. Ami looks around as the students start to grow tired.

Outside, Usagi stops and looks at the map. Luna mentions that it’s the same cram school that Ami attends and it will be a great opportunity to talk her into being a senshi. But Usagi doesn’t want to force her. She starts to walk again, still looking at the map, and bumps into the guy she bumped into last episode. A quick flashback to their first meeting. The guy calls her a model-wanna-be and tells her to watch where she’s going and walks away. He picks up the map she dropped and says she’s going the wrong way. He points over to the Alt Seminar and the one next to it, the “Good Kid’s Friendly Cram School”. He says the latter would be perfect for her, then walks off. Usagi angrily shakes her map, muttering that she’s mad because he called her an idiot. Luna shakes her head and says Usagi could never be at the same level as Ami. Suddenly, the crescent moon glows red. They both look at the Alt Seminar building.

Inside, all the students except Ami have fallen asleep. The teacher comes over and jerks the headphones off. she lectures Ami not to listen to other things during class and tosses the disc player on the floor. Usagi’s disc falls out. The teacher says she’ll take Ami’s energy and turns into the youma’s true form. Ami screams and runs away, with the youma following right behind. She ducks away and the youma slips into the wall, causing the teacher to fall out, unconscious. The youma gets up and continues to chase Ami, who says it’s mean to use the teacher like that.

Usagi sees that Ami has been cornered against a railing. “Moon Prism Poiwer, Make-Up!” Sailor Moon tells the youma to hold it and uses Moon Tiara Boomerang on it, but it has no real effect. The youma pushes Ami over the railing, going as well. Ami screams, as she falls, and Moon jumps over the railing and grabs onto Ami, her other hand holding onto the railing. The youma hits the ground and shatters. Sailor moon asks Ami if she’s okay and Ami asks back if she’s Usagi-chan.

The dog youma goes and revives the other one.

Up above, Moon’s hand slips a little. Ami looks up and asks Usagi to make her a senshi. sailor Moon says she shouldn’t transform if she doesn’t want to, that she’ll think of something to save them. she tries to pull them up, but doesn’t have enough strength. The youma comes closer. Ami tells Sailor Moon that she wants to become a senshi and fight with her. Luna’s crescent moon glows and a transformation bracelet appears around her wrist. Suddenly, Ami’s hand slips out of Moon’s and she falls towards the ground.

“Mercury Power, Make-Up!” She transforms and lands gracefully on top of the water on the fountain. “Mizu ku chishiki no senshi, Sailor Mercury! Suisei ni kawatte oshioki yo!” Sailor Moon is on the ground now and Mercury runs over to her and they clasp hands. Moon exclaims that now they can fight the youma together. The two senshi fight the youma using their signature ‘ballet’ fighting moves. Sailor Moon calls for her Moon Stick. “Moon Twilight Flash!” The youma turns to dust. “Mercury Aqua Beam!” She liquefies the other youma. Moon happily exclaims that they did it. Mercury smiles. Then Moon asks if she’s okay with being a senshi. Mercury answers in the affirmative, that though she can’t explain it, she wanted to fight with her. Moon says that she wanted to be friends with her because she was Ami-chan, not a senshi. Mercury smiles back.

From one of the upper floors, Tuxedo Kamen has been watching the two senshi. He says their names under his breath as if he’s not quite sue of them yet.

Outside a shrine, Jadeite buries a crystal in the leaves. He says that he’ll get the energy to use next time.

Inside the shrine, a young priestess sits praying in front of the sacred fire. She senses that something’s coming.
