As jewelry falls from the caped man’s bag, he’s blocked by a masked girl, Sailor V. The caped man raises his cane as Sailor V holds up a crescent moon and shakes her finger at him. As they fight, she swings the crescent moon across the bag, causing the jewels to tumble out. The caped figure runs off, followed by Sailor V, as sirens are heard.

Opening

One morning in a girl’s bedroom. “C’est la vie” by pop idol Aino Minako plays on the CD/alarm clock. A hand reaches out, trying to turn it off, but gives up. A young boy, Shingo, enters, picks up the clock, and sticks it under the covers. The girl, Usagi, sits up, staring at the clock, disbelieving how late it is. she runs out of the room, trips, and falls down the stairs. Shingo remarks how stupid his sister is, as he leaves the room.

Downstairs, Usagi runs into the kitchen asking for her lunch. As her mother prepares it, Usagi asks where Papa is. He’s left for work. On the television, a news report comes on about the jewelry robbery. Usagi and Ikuko-mama watch as Shingo walks by and mentions Usagi’s late. She freaks and runs out of the house.

Usagi runs across a bridge on her way to school when a stuffed cat falls on her head. Finally claming down, she removes the cat from her head and looks at it. she remarks on the crescent moon on her forehead. Then she remembers the time, puts the cat down, and runs off. The cat comes to life and her crescent moon glows. “I’ve found her!”

In Class 2-1, Haruna-sensei scolds Usagi on her lateness. She asks why Usagi can’t be more like Ami-chan. Usagi apologizes and must clean the desks after school as punishment.

After school, Usagi cleans the desks, grumbling the herself about Haruna-sensei. Osaka Naru comes into the room offering to help her best friend. They agree that when they’re done they’ll go to the Crown Karaoke Bar to sing Aino Minako’s current hit song.

At the Karaoke Bar, Naru shakes a rattle to the beat of “C’est la vie” as Usagi sings. As they snack on the food, Naru mentions her mother’s upcoming jewelry fashion show. They decide to visit and watch the rehearsal.

At Osaka Maysumi’s jewelry show, the models are rehearsing when Usagi and Naru enter and greet Maysumi. As the girls remark on the models, the stuffed cat watches from behind the back row of seats. Her crescent moon glows red.

After the rehearsal, Usagi looks at the gowns used for the show and pulls out a hanger on which a white evening gown hangs. She holds it up to her and looks at her reflection, but decides she’s not going to be a model. Turning to put the gown back, she bumps into a young man. Stumbling back, she apologizes, but he just looks at her then walks away. Usagi wonders about him when the production assistant walks by, talking into a tape recorder causing both the watch him go. The man Usagi bumped into looks back at her and she realizes she’s still holding the gown. She guiltily puts the gown back and he remarks how she’s not a model. He turns and walks away and Usagi follows and pushes him in the side before continuing on. He stares after her, but his attention is drawn to two workers who are laying out the jewelry for the show and remarks that he must find the Silver Crystal.

In the show room, the cat’s crescent moon continues to glow red. On the ceiling, three gelatinous arms appear from an opening.

That night, Maysumi is on her cellphone, apologizing to Naru, at home, that she has to work late and won’t be home. Naru offers to make some food for her. Before hanging up, Maysumi wishes her a good night. From the ceiling, the gelatinous arms follow Maysumi, and she turns around right before she’s captured.

That same night, Usagi lies down in bed to sleep, but spots the stuffed cat from earlier next to her pillow. She picks it up and sets it in front of her. “Usagi-chan!” Usagi freaks out as the cat comes to life. Jumping out of bed, she opens her door to run, but the cat clocks her way. She introduces herself as Luna and says that she’s been searching for her. Ikuko-mama calls up, asking if anything is wrong. Luna begs Usagi to listen, so she answers her mother in the negative. Sitting at her table, she watches Luna jump up on top, which freaks her. Luna explains that an evil is trying to take over the Earth and that she has been sent to look for the Princess and her senshi. Usagi is one of those senshi. Believing it’s just a dream, she jumps back into bed, and hides under the covers. Luna can’t see someone like Usagi being a senshi, but she is. But before she leaves, Luna leaves a cellphone on the windowsill and tells Usagi to contact her when she believes. Also, to stay away from the jewelry show. Luna jumps out the window, leaving Usagi to stare at the cellphone.

The next day, Maysumi is acting strange as she enters the convention hall’s kitchen to find Naru sitting at the table. Maysumi asks why she’s there and Naru laughs and holds up a box of food she prepared. she asks what is it, and Naru reminds her of their convention the previous night. Naru starts backing away from her mother, frightened.

Meanwhile, Usagi wakes up, sees the cellphone, and realizes it wasn’t a dream. Suddenly, she gets a feeling that Naru is in danger. she runs out of her room calling to her mother that she wants to go shopping.

Back in the convention hall’s kitchen, Maysumi tries to convince Naru that everything’s fine, but Naru knows that it’s not her mother. She runs out of the room with Maysumi following, and bumps into the production assistant. She begs for help, but the young man’s eyes shine green and he transforms into a warrior of evil, Jadeite. She stumbles backwards, but he uses his power to knock her unconscious. He turns to Maysumi and orders her to gather energy for Queen Beryl, at the end of the show. The three gelatinous hands leave her body.

Outside, Luna watches the hands through the window. There’s trouble. Suddenly, a pink bag falls from above right into her. Looking up, she sees Usagi trying to climb into the building. But the girl slips and falls into Luna. the cat asks why Usagi’s there and she responds that she knows Naru is in danger and they have to save her. Luna asks Usagi to get off her and reminds her that she’s a senshi, and gives her a brooch and tube of lipstick from her crescent moon.

Inside, the model’s are preparing for the show putting the gowns and jewelry on, while outside Usagi and Luna watch. Luna tells Usagi to take out the cellphone she left her. Opening it up reveals a mirror above the buttons that reflects her image back at her. But she presses a button and the image shifts to a model inside. The phone takes a picture of the model and suddenly Usagi’s hair, clothes, and make-up changes to resemble the model’s. Usagi gasps as Luna explains the power of the phone. then model-Usagi picks up Luna and they approach the back entrance where the security guard opens the door for her.

In the main room, the show has just ended and Maysumi comes out. She raises her hands and purple smoke fills the room, putting everyone asleep. Usagi, back in her normal clothes, runs into the room and orders her to stop. Maysumi asks why she’s not asleep, to which Usagi falters in answering. Luna whispers it’s because she’s a senshi which Usagi tells Maysumi. The three arms come out and attack. Luna says it’s a youma before they run out of the building. As the three arms come after them, Luna tells Usagi to transform. “Moon Prism Power, Make-Up!” “Ai to seigi no seera fuku bishoujo senshi, Sailor Moon! Tsuki ni Kawatte Oshioki yo!”

Jadeite watches, out of sight, and wonders why Sailor Moon is here.

After exclaiming in awe about her uniform, she notices the three arms coming after her. Sailor Moon freaks, but Luna tells her not to worry, she’s a senshi and she’ll know what to do. All of a sudden, she’s dodging and fighting like a pro. The Moon Stick flies out of the brooch and Sailor Moon catches it. “Moon Healing Escalation!” the youma screams and disappears, leaving Maysumi to fall to the ground, unconscious. Luna smiles as Sailor Moon happily jumps up and down. She turns towards Luna, but Jadeite appears and throws a long ice spear at her. Sailor Moon turns around and sees the spear coming at her, when suddenly, a caped figure jumps over and pushes her to the ground. the ice spear imbeds itself in the ground. Angry, Jadeite disappears.

The two stare at each other and he helps her to her feet. She thanks him and asks for his name. He answers, Tuxedo Kamen, then leaves. Sailor Moon stares after him, dreamily.

In the convention hall’s kitchen, Naru wakes up to find herself sitting at the table and winders how she got there.

In the Dark Kingdom, Queen Beryl stands near a fire ball atop crystals. she says she won’t forgive this person who stands in her way.

Back in the city, Sailor Moon and Luna stand looking over the harbor. Moon remarks that she really is Sailor Moon to which Luna agrees to and reminds her that they have to find the other senshi. Sailor Moon doesn’t know if she should be scared or excited, but her heart is beating fast, thinking about it. Luna chuckles.
