The "Thanksgiving Game"

Thanksgiving has held a special place in the hearts of Port Chester Ultimate players for quite some time. Not only is it a gracious holiday of thanks where great food is usually eaten, but it is a great time for Ultimate as well! What started as an afterschoolgame the Wednesday before Thanksgiving was tranformed into what is popularly called the 'Thanksgiving Game.' However, do not be misled by the name as the actual game takes place the Friday after Thanksgiving. Furthermore, the Thanksgiving game is much more than a just a game. It can also be described as a mass gathering or celebration. Faces from the past, present, and sometimes future come to what is usually the crowded game of the year. Today the Thanksgiving Game continues in what is a tradition dating back to at least 1999. Although the weather sometimes prevents an excellent game, the experience is always fun, the way Squanto meant it to be.
