Skyla was born on February 9, 2004 at 10:10 pm in Shamu Stadium to Kalina and Tilikum. A sort time after birth, Skyla was introduced to some of the other Orcas. Even when she was very young, Skyla was unusually independent. She would scoot off to visit the other whales and play with her younger companions. She got on particularly well with Takara and Kohana. Kalina would sometime shepherd her back, when she got protective. Skyla loved to play. She takes part in many of the shows wiht her mother, and is starting to learn some of the behaviours. When she was young, she just wanted to play and would attempt to invovlve her mother in a game while she was performing. She would jump on her, whcih must have been quite irritating. She would also speed off to talk to the Orcas in the other pools. She is quite interactive, as well as being very curious and will happily come up to check out people at the glass. Now she is older, she is more free and Kalina is less protective of her.
