Lovey
(LUV-ee) means "loved one" in American.

Her Story
Lovey was born tail-first on January 11, 1998. Her mother Stella had gone into labor that day. Lovey made history by becoming the first orca born and raised successfully in a zoological park in Japan. Before she was given an official name, Lovey and her mother were referred to as "oyako" which means "parent and child" in Japanese.
Stella would mother several more daughters including Lara (February 8, 2001), Sarah* (May 31, 2003 - April 26, 2006), and Ran II (February 25, 2006).
Lovey is finally becoming a mother herself. Kamogawa Sea World has confirmed that she is pregnant with Oscar's offspring and due in October 2008.
