Ikaika
(EE-kai-ka) means "strong" in Hawaiian.

His Story

Ikaika was born tail-first on August 25, 2002 at 11:53 AM EDT. His mother Katina went into labor around 10:50 AM EDT. Her daughter Unna was present during the birth.

Ikaika was officially named in January 2003. More than 6,000 SeaWorld Passport Members voted on the name on the SeaWorld website. The choices for his name included:

Ikaika: "strength" (Hawaiian)
Mottaka: "reception" (Icelandic)
Ramu: in honor of the late Ramu
Ramius: after Captain Marko Ramius in Hunt for Red October
Tsunami: "tidal wave" (Japanese)

On November 17, 2006, Ikaika was moved to MarineLand of Canada in Ontario. He spends most of his time with a young female named Athena.
