HISTORY

Bingo was captured in November 1984 off the east coast of Iceland near Reydarfjördur. Along with him was a male named Kandu VII* and an unnamed male*. They were sent to Sædyrasafnid in Iceland. In November 1985, Bingo was sent to Kamogawa Sea World in Japan. At the time of his arrival, the park already owned two female orcas: Caren* and Patty*. Both of the females passed away in 1987.

Bingo was by himself until March 1988 when four orcas were brought in from Iceland. There were two females, Maggie* and Stella, and two males, Bubba* and Oscar. Bubba would later be sent to Ocean Park in Hong Kong, China.

On March 3, 1995, Maggie gave birth to a male calf fathered by Bingo. Unfortunatly, the calf passed away the same day. Two years later on October 5, 1997, Maggie suffered a stillborn that was also fathered by Bingo. Maggie would pass away two days later on October 7, 1997 from complications of the birth.

After losing two calves and a breeding female, Kamogawa Sea World finally got a break on January 11, 1998, when Stella gave birth to Lovey, Bingo's daughter. She would become the first orca successfully born and raised in a zoological park in Japan. Three years later on February 8, 2001, a second daughter, Lara, was born to Stella and Bingo. A third daughter, Sarah*, was born on May 31, 2003.

On February 25, 2006, Bingo's fourth dauther with Stella was born. She was named Ran which was a combination of her parents' names. Two months after Ran's birth, Sarah passed away on April 26, 2006. She had been quite ill for almost a year.
