*Orca's Summary
Takara was born on July 9th, 1991 and was Sea World California's second successful birth, the first being that of Orkid. Her parents are mother Kasatka and father Kotar*. During her youth, Takara was allowed to do a lot of things other whales couldn't, due to her mother's dominancy. For a long time, she remained Kasatka's only offspring and stuck close to her mother's side. This remained true until her half brother, Nakai, was born on September 1st, 2001. She played the role of auntie during his birth. Takara has two half brothers on her father's side: Keet and Keto. Shortly after Kasatka was AIed, trainers did the same to Takara. After 18 months of gestation, Takara bore her first calf, a baby girl named Kohana, on May 3rd, 2002. This makes her a first time mother but she has adjusted to the task very well. Before Kohana was born, "Tiki" was a very people oriented killer whale. She loved to interact with visitors; after her daughter's birth she seemed to become entirely focused on raising her child for a while. Once several months had passed, she returned to her old, fun-loving self. Her father, Kotar*, was a very people-loving whale and probably had a genetic influence on her. As of April 24th, 2004, Takara was moved to Sea World Florida, along with Kohana. She now performs there. Both are fitting in well with the rest of the pod and have brought much activity to the SWF Close Up. Taku, a maturing male, has taken interest and sometimes makes advances on her. Takara is easy to indentify, but once and a while she was mistaken for her mother back in SWC. She has a brown stain in the shape of a T below her rostrum and her dorsal leans slightly to the right. Her eyepatches look a lot like Kasatka's only more slim and with more spots.
