Science Fiction, Fantasy and alternative writing and art work. "Alternative" according to the owners, means anything that doesn't fit in to the Science Fiction or Fantasy category. This is one of the few sites that actually pay their writers, even if the payment is low ($10.00 per story). |

A very active member of Midleton Writers, this is Frances's personal web site. It contains a more in-depth biography than Stephen King's site! and there are also links to other sites where her work has appeared. Her new collection of poetry, Hidden Capacity, A Poet's Journey, may be purchased at the site. |

Administrated by the genial owner, Gerard Van Essen, the unique thing about NiceStories.com is that it has no intruding advertisements. It is divided into two sections. In the first, stories, poems and articles can be posted in their various categories. If anyone reads your piece, you may get feedback, which may include helpful suggestions. The second section contains the forums, where people may post their opinions and communicate with each other. The forum section, itself, is divided into four parts, General, Story Workshops, Story Reviews and Politics. The last forum was provided as a place for people who wanted to argue and keep them out of the way of people who simply wanted to discuss writing. General contains discussions about anything - except politics, Story workshops are supposed to provide writing exercises, although it is rarely used for this now, and on Story Reviews, a story from the new stories section is reviewed by one of the members. Any member can review a story and offer advice to the writer. |

The most important part of Irish Writers Online is its growing list of brief biographies of Irish writers, both living and dead. There are more Irish people out there writing and being published than we ever dreamed of. It also contains lists of Irish publishers, literary links and a page of writers resources |
