Name Definition & Why It Fits
Kikyou means “Chinese Bellflower” or a flower known as “Balloon Flower” and while I haven’t seen sites translate her name to that I did see a website for Japanese to English say it can also translate to “eccentric”, that I find doesn’t fit her so I’d definitely take the first one over that.The balloon flower blooms commonly anywhere from July to August. Before this flower blooms it swells up, hence the name balloon flower. That fits Kikyou tremendously because her emotions have always been forced to be bottled up. She had she been allowed to release I think she would have bloomed into a magnificent person and she would have been much happier by (more than likely) Inu-Yasha’s side. Another reason that may seem morbid, but I have heard that these type of flowers have been placed on graves and well, she is dead, so who knows if that is another reason. Either way, I think her name fits.

Yes another one of those little weird name analysis thingies…anyways! I think this is very much like Kikyou. It is kind of freaky how close it is, isn’t it? o.O
