Brizzie's Instructions for making a Tussie Mussie:
The traditional Tussie-mussie uses herbs but if they are in short supply,
use whatever is pretty at the time.
Start with a perfect rosebud in the centre and gradually build around it
with lavender, rosemary, thyme, bay, sage etc - all the fragrant herbs. You
can fasten with a rubber band as you go to keep it firm. Make sure you remove
the lower leaves or you won't get the little posy effect.
When it is the size you want, finish with a rubber band then put damp paper
towel and cling wrap around the stems and wrap the bottom part in cellophane.
I have also used pink or mauve tulle sometimes. Then tie with a lavender ribbon
or raffia.
Sometimes I add a note with the meanings of the flowers - rose for love,
lavender for luck, rosemary for remembrance, thyme for courage etc.
