Don't Know What to Tip your Empath? By Jypsie Calbot |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Tips are NOT mandatory but simply a nice gesture of thanking your Healer for their Services.
Hugs - My favorite!! Sometimes a friendly smile, a simple thank you and a warm hug are all we need. Though quite rare, some healers would rather not be hugged. Please do respect their wishes. Mana - One of my other favorite tips. Mana is always needed, especially during busy days and invasions. Any amount of mana you could share with us is most appreciated.Younger Healers can only absorb so much at a time, so perhaps 20-30 units of mana at a time would be nice ;) Herbs - I usually grow some herbs and leave them about the healing areas for the hunters and young Empaths. a contribution of bleeder herbs would be very helpful. White flasks -- Sometimes a Cleric is not available to preserve the life of the fallen hunter, so a flask comes in very handy. I, myself, carry a Glowing Soulstone that can be refilled with preservation (LK), but i like to keep an extra flask or two incase i am too injured to "wave" the soulstone.
Food - Chocolate is the favorite
among most healers (i myself love anything with blueberries in it!) and alcohol
is rarely turned down (i wonder why? Icemule has a very nice bakery near the south gate area. There are also many areas in all the towns to find free food such as Hearthstone Manor, the house you belong to, and treasure chests some critters carry about with them. Floating disks - most of us cannot always accept tips due to severe injuries so a floating disk comes in mighty handy. You might want to ask to make sure we're not just about to leave. there are a few Healers who prefer not to have disks at all so, asking them first may be a good idea. Gems - Overhealing is the number one cause of death amongst young healers and getting deeds can be very expensive. Save a few smaller gems from your hunts, put them in a sack then offer them to a younger healer. Bank Notes - healers must feed and clothe their family sometime eh ;) Bank notes are much better than coin because they are lighter, providing the healer is not too injured to accept it. Often times you will run into a Field Healer so be sure to carry a couple of bank notes with you on your hunts. Amount of bank notes are at the descretion of the tipper. Magic items - Younger Empaths: such as wands, white or blue crystals and even Statues to aid them during their hunts. Older empaths: Scrolls are very useful Embedible items - Pendants, Pins, jewelry, wands and other embedibles with defense in it is very helpful for both young and elder Healers. Gold Rings - Rings are wonderful! Often times many of us lose our gold rings to the navigators, along with our silvers and where they sell for 5000 silvers each, most young empaths can't afford them. Enchants/Discounts - Contrary to popular belief, Most Empaths are not rich so when selling or ETing items, perhaps a discount could possibly be arranged. I know it would be most appreciated ;) Treasure Chests-- Though most Empaths will not turn them down, these can be impossible to carry because they weigh us down and you know how RT (round time) can be for us Empaths. If we regenerate someone's missing limbs, we end up falling and between carrying coins and chests, we have a hard time getting up. Hunting - Not all of us are Warpaths but we do occasionally like to take a break from healing and enjoy the thrill of the hunt. Don't hesitate to ask to take us hunting, some of us would love to! ;) We can also be very helpful during a hunt, with binding, unbalance, silencing (everyone hates clouds) and of course healing during the hunt. Spells - In most of the towns, many healers do not need spells, but its sometimes nice to be prepared. Ask the healer if they would like a few defenses first, perhaps they may decide to go off hunting after healing. On Teras, it is wise to always have defenses up, yes, even in town. so, i doubt any healer on Teras will complain if you spell them up with yer finest spells ;)
Courtesy, Patience & Respect - Alot of times, hunters will ask for healing repeatedly without getting a reply.This makes them feel like they are being ignored and out of frustration the hunter tends to get angry and lectures us on our profession as well as calling us names. The truth is most of us are not ignoring you. So we ask that you not be angry with us, instead, respect our profession and be patient with us... Weather Interference: Sometimes the cause of this is bad weather (lag) which unables us to move, let alone answer you. The Lag gets so bad at at times, not only can we not move but we get booted from the lands. Sight & Severe Wounds: We don't always see who is asking for healing due to such reasons as an invasion or weather interference. The most populated healing areas are usually filled with deaders repeatedly asking for lifekeep, healing or a resurrection. Also Hunters asking for blesses of their weapons, a young hunter asking for directions and so on. Empaths also are trying their best to heal down their severe wounds so they will be able to heal other patients such as yourself. Herbs: I like to grow many herbs and leave them in the healing areas so a hunter can heal down his own bleeders til an Empath can get to the rest of his wounds. If you are not getting healed after asking several times, there are no herbs available or on your person, and hopefully you are not near death, then run to the next available healin area and ask there, but most of the time, you don't have to wait for very long and an Empath will attend to you before letting you bleed to death (alot of times the young Empaths will continue to give you blood til you can be healed). First aid: **Be sure to train in first aid so you'll be able to tend your own wounds (if you are young and have more than one bleeder, your best bet would be to get to the nearest healer quickly, because the RT (roundtime) it gives you can be very hig), also there are societies that have magics to help you "staunch" your bleeding wounds til you are able to get to a healer or be healed (there is no RT on staunchig). Nappers: Some empaths tend to be sleeping or distracted (i myself do not think this it's right to be sleeping in public areas), if you are done healing, go to the Inn or somewhere with a node, we have enough trouble seeing thru the fog & chaos in healing areas such as the gate in the Landing). But if you insist on laying around and if you have the spell, grow some herbs for the hunters and healers. Offer some mana and clean up, offer defense spells to the hunters, the Hunters & Empaths alike would be most appreciative.
Tips are also offered to Clerics for raising, Rogues for picking, Wizards for enchanting, Sorcerers for embedding and so on...Sharby explains some great tipping below...
