What are gold rings?

There are 2 types of gold rings:

The first type is the normal gold rings you can custom order from the Gemshop. Just Go Shop, then East. You can buy other normal rings and jewelry as well.

The second type is the magic gold rings that can teleport the wearer from one place to another instantly. This is what people talk about when they say "Gold Rings".

To tell them apart, "Look at my gold ring" or "show ring to (name)". The magic gold rings will have intricate patterns on them. Normal gold rings will, well, look normal and nothing unusual.

Where do you get gold rings?

You can find them off dead monsters. They won't be needing them. You can also buy them from other adventurers who found them off dead monsters. Market price is usually 5k. Occasionally, it's traded from 4.5k to 5.5k. A new gold ring can also be bought from the shops for 8k.

How many times can you use gold rings?

Only the Gods know, and they're not telling. Most adventurers claim that gold rings have no charges. However, everytime the ring is used, there is a small chance that the original owner of the ring will take the ring away from you. The owner, called Navigator, will take your ring and all the cash you have. Some say the percentage is only about 5% per use, but I personally think it's around 20% :(

Then, there are those who believe gold rings have charges. If they do, they must have plenty of charges. I think the ring will be "navved" soon before it runs out of charges, if it does have charges.

Personally, I put a cost of 1k everytime I use my gold ring. If I'm bleeding to death or a much needed massie is going on, 1k is a small price to pay. Or, if the system is really slow and I have a customer willing to buy something that has a 5k profit, using the ring to teleport back to town warrants its use. For Undead hunters, ringing into and out of the Grave Yard may also be worth the 1k. Gold rings are expensive, but they are the best form of tranportation around.

|How do you use gold rings?

1. If your ring is used, go to the Thrak Inn and get a table. Else, it doesn't matter where you are.

2. Hold the gold ring in your right hand.

3. Make sure you are wearing less than two rings, because that is the limit.

4. Wear gold ring. You will "feel a pulse" from the ring.

5. Go to somewhere you want to teleport back to. Let's call this point A.

6. Turn gold ring. That anchors the ring.

7. Now, go to somewhere else. Graveyard or somewhere hard to get to would be nice places. This is point B.

8. From point B, you need 2 actions to get back to point A.

9. Remove ring, wear ring.

10. If all goes well, you should be back in point A. You can move around and do whatever you want. If you want to go to point B (inside the graveyard), repeat step 9. The place you teleported from will become the new point A. Confused yet?

11. If you forgot where you last anchored the gold ring, just Turn gold ring. As a habit, I always turn my gold ring somewhere in town before I trek out to the hunting grounds.

Is there a limit to the range of teleportation?

Yes. For example, you cannot teleport from Wehnimer to Icemule with one jump. It is not governed by distance, but by zones. The tele-zones seem to correspond with the same zones that crystal amulets work in. I was told Wehnimer and Icemule is separated by 5 tele-zones.

How come I'm in town and the ring doesn't work?

Certain places block gold rings from operating. For example, gold rings will not work in Thrak Tables.

Is it cool to wear a gold ring around even if I don't use it?

Yes. Although I rarely use gold rings, I always wear one. In case some monster get lucky and hit my jugular vein, the ring will allow me to get to a town healer in less than a minute. The ring also allows me to get back to town for Massies.
