Are you curious as to what many of these Stones and Crystals look like?

Check out The Elanthian Gem & Mineral Gallery by Lady Evialla. It also includes the Mandis Crystal!

Values may have been recently tweeked for the better so the values listed maybe more than what i have posted. Many of the values listed are from GSIII and the rest is updated research in GSIV

Costs may vary depending on age, gemshop or town. Some shops buy gems at a cheaper price, others at a higher price. Hearthstone Manor, for example, would give you more coins than the Gemshop in town.

Certain Gems such as a waxy grey caederine can only be sold at the pawnshop as well as fangs, talons & wheels.

*Ambergris is hardly a gem and is sold at the furrier

If you collected gems from one town and sold them in another town, they may be lower in value. You can also have a Bard sing to them (purify) to give the gems a higher value.

You can LOOK at a gem and see a description of it..

EX: a blue star-shaped riftshard

>look riftshard

The star-shaped riftshard is delicate and otherworldly, with its pale, luminescent color and deeper flecks of iridescent ultramarine, which glisten within the firmament of the lighter color like tiny jewels.

Gems are also used for deeds. You will need a certain amount of gems according to the deed formula. The more valuable the gem, the less gems you may need to use for a deed so don't waste a valuable gem on a deed if you are young, you may only need a few hundred coins worth of a gem or gems.

A friend told me that his friend found "a glossy black doomstone". It casts a curse on you that recurs every few minutes. It assessed normally as a gem worth around 5K, but it has a number of scripts and strange effects attached to it.

Apparently it cursed him when he picked it up, causing him to drop his shield. And it cursed me when I placed it in my cloak and then tried to reach for it. It also causes a few scripts that are harmless (I assume)...

  • You feel a strange, foreboding sensation as your hand touches the black doomstone.
  • For some reason you can't get that.
  • You feel a subtle shift in the essence, and you suddenly feel more vulnerable.
  • A dark veil descends over your eyes, and you find it difficult to see.

Those were some of the scripts. The message that I became more vulnerable is a form of the Sorcerer "Curse" spell.

~ Lord Dites

Some folks can make their own "private amunet" amulets with just about any gem in the lands, but one gem you really shouldn't use is the deathstone.

Make one for decoration to fit your attire but don't use it. It not only blocks you for quite a time from talking on the amulet but for about 15 minutes (give or take, I can't remember, it's been so long) you'll hear high piercing painful sounds.

It can be very annoying watching it scroll on your screen as well.

If you used a crystal amulet or used your society powers "Sign of Thought" then rubbed the deathstone (let's say by accident), I think you can still hear others on the amulet but you WILL still be blocked from sending your thoughts.

*Speaking of Crystals...

The blue, white and black crystals are very useful during hunts. Simply rub the crystal and you will recieve the spells...

Blue - "Spirit Strike" (117)
White - Strength" (509)
Black - "FloatingDisk" (511)

They can also be sold to players for the value stated in the gem chart.

Scarabs
(found as traps on a box)

REMEMBER: One should have disarm skill + wisdom bonus of over 150 to have a chance at disarming a ground scarab! Be careful!

Some gems may be more than I approximated. All prices are the same for Large and Small Pearls, size does not matter.

Also, You can curse a cheap gem or three to avoid theivery. The thief will have to find a magicker to uncurse it. You can also have the thief arrested for the crime.

If you know of any gems missing from the list or know the value of a gem listed here, please send the Send info to Jypsie .

Thank you

Gems and Disk Color

Wizards know that holding a gem can effect the color of your disk. Below is a listing of gems and what color your disk will turn out to be, just hold a gem in your LEFT hand and cast the spell. The gem will be burned to ashes, however so don't try this trick on gems you want to keep!
