Lord Faent
by Lord Cadsreel
![]()
[Cadsreel] "just out of curiousity, who would like ta hear da story of how Faent met his match at da paws of a giant rat?"
[Dremerie] "Did Faen't get drunk and lie down in the sewers again, Dear?"
[Cadsreel] "oh nae love, wasnae so easy...."
[Minki] "Faents a real means mans"
[Faent] "What is this lunacy?"
[Cadsreel] "Twas a beautiful starlit night, much like dis one... "
[Cadsreel] "en Dear, dear Faent was sittin right over by da stump of Heartstone manor..."
[Dremerie] "Tis not lunacy, Faent. Tis my husbands great tale!"
[Xolean] "Sounds like popular opinion, Faent."
[Cadsreel] "En well, he was in da middle of a tirade wit a giantman, sayin how giants were dis, en giants were dat..."
[Cadsreel] "en well, da giant of course, who will remain nameless ta dis day, looked at him, en was like, "Faent me boy, I's know da easiest way ta prove dat us giants are smarter den ye sylphs...""
[Cadsreel] "an obvious challenge if'n I's ever did hear one."
[Faent] "Come drop a few silvers in Cadsreel's hat, folks.... he has to make a living somehow."
[Cadsreel] "En Faent looked at da giant, en told him, "Nae giant, in all of time, has ever been smarter den any of me kind, nae even when dey fresh out of da womb. In fact, dar's only one good ting yer kind are good fer, en dat's carryin me luggage.""
[Cadsreel] "So da giant leered at da Sylph, en tole him, "Ah, but surely I's know a way... dat is, if'n yer brave enough ta follow...""
[Cadsreel] "en Faent, well, Faent's ego dinnae allow him ta be daunted. Witin seconds he stepped up ta da Giant's challenge. "Lead on, oh knuckle draggin one..." he said, en pointed fer da giant ta take da lead..."
[Cadsreel] "So da Giant led Faent off in da sewers, trudg trough, well, I's nae gonna say what dey trudged trough... until dey came upon a river."
[Faent] "Dremerie, you do know Cadsreel is here under my close scrutiny, eh? He speaks because I permit it. Food must be put on your table, somehow."
[Cadsreel] "En da giant of course, looked at Faent, en said "dis is how I's know a giant is smarter den a sylph..." Wit dat da giant grabbed da sylph en tossed da poor elf down inta da trailin dung of da river..."
[Cadsreel] "Well, Faent was a tad irate at dat, as we all would be, fer he was drippin sludge as he trudged back ta where da giant tossed him in..."
[Dremerie] "You gain much more credibility in this land if you go slowly, look carefully, and use your wits when looking for these places that you must deliver too. And not get so upset and snarly when folks try to tell ya that."
[Cadsreel] "da giant just looked at him, smirkin all da while. Faent drew hisself up as high as he could get, en tried in vain ta stare da giant in da eye... "Now listen ere giant! Ye best..." En wit dat, da giant again, tossed poor Faent inta da river."
[Dremerie] "Faent, I have no problems with my husband being under your eye. HE's quite capable of handling his own battles."
[Cadsreel] "well, once more, faent trudged back. En ye know how anger blinds a person? Well... Faent put all his strengt, which was barely any at all, inta a single swing... it knocked him so off balance, dat he fell face ferst at da giant's feet."
