American Fishing Schooner "Flying Fish" |
My name is Giampaolo (JP for friends) .... I'm living in Rome, Italy and I'm a Ship Model Builder ( but not professional...) since 1980.... (now I'm 40) I was always fascinate by sea, ships and, of course, ship modelling (my father was a ship model builder too). In all those years I built some ship models, mainly sail ships as galleons, vessels, frigates, schooners, and fishing boats. I work exclusively based on building plans and pictures, without the use of any kit or pre-cutted part, making everything by myself (wherever it is possible..) |
In the last 3-4 years I was attracted from warships, especially in the age from the middle of 19th Century to the end of W.W.I. (1918-20) I don't know why, but there is something of so interesting for me in some "old style" ironclad, battleships and cruisers.. Probably the position and the variety of the weapons, or the high funnels, or the ram bow... or the story of the development of a modern "Navy" that started in that age. |

It's a long time that I'm thinking to create a
web page for communicate to the people something about this my fascinating hobby and, in
the same time, to talk and illustrate some informations about my models (past, presents
and future) and the modelling techniques I'm using in some cases.
Following the links you'll find some other pages in which I'll try to explain something more about Ship Modelling, showing some examples and pics took during the work.
I want also give you some informations about my Workshop and the tools I use during the work and a list about books and plans I own about ships and ship modelling.
So, dear friends,
came onboard and have a nice "boating time" inside my pages !
