Coleford GWR Museum's Peckett loco was built in 1936, works no. 1893 and
worked at Buildwas, Ironbridge and Stourport power stations until 1977. It was rescued from a scrapyard at
Horsham in 1986 by Curator Mike Rees and put on display at the Museum. Restoration started
in 2002 in the newly-built Engine Shed and includes reconstruction of the boiler and smokebox,
and renewal of many of the fittings. The cab roof had been cut down to an unsightly angular profile
by the previous owner and is being rebuilt to the original curved shape.

When completed the loco will carry the name, 'Ironbridge No.2' and will be finished in Swindon
Green. It will carry the number 182, allocated by the GWR when cleared for main line running in 1937
on the traditional brass cabside plate and will also be fitted with an ex-GWR Automatic Train
Control (ATC) box in the cab.
