JAMNET
What is JamNet?
JamNet is what we call the Jamaica NetCorps Youth Exchange Program. It is
a joint International Youth Exchange Program between Canada's NetCorps &
Canada World Youth organizations and Jamaica's National Youth Service.
JamNet's history in brief:
This is the 4th year that Netcorps is working with Jamaica;
the 3rd year working with the National Youth Services and the 21st year of
programming with Jamaica.
The JamNet Program:
The JamNet program combines a focus on community development,
social services all within an overall framework which incorporates some aspect
of Information Technology. As a result, volunteer work placements in NetCorps
programming have been in the governmental, non-governmental and private sectors
in the host communities.
Also, given the community development focus of our
programs, work placements in the past have included: CAP Sites (Community
Access Project); Computers for Schools; Elementary, Secondary and High Schools,
Community Futures, Society for the Disabled, Native Friendship Centers, AIDS
Coalition, Environmental organizations and Community Development Centers.
