In Runecape, just like in real life, players meet, get to know each other and then decide to get maried. This can all happen in the virtual world of RS. Runescape weddings are community events and there have been several memorable ones such as Ladymedusa and M Oldfield's virtual wedding when the server crashed due to too many players attending the event.

What on earth is a Runescape wedding?

Well, it is a community event in the game. One player is designated as the priest and presides over the marriage ceremony. The bride and the groom say their vows in the game with their wedding guests as witnesses, normally this is done in a church.

There are two kinds of Runscape weddings. There are the real weddings where two people who are in a relationship in real life decide to hold a ceremony in the game world. The other kind is a virtual, roleplaying wedding where the two players are not in a relationship outside of the game. The marriage in this case is purely virtual.

These weddings can be quite large community events. Back in the old version of the game, Runescape Classic, weddings were so popular that even Paul Gower used to attend them. In one memorable occasion, Paul even performed the wedding ceremony for M Oldfield and Ladymedusa.
