
John Heidelmeier
John Heidelmeier spent 26 months in a German prison farm after his capture in North Africa. John received a Purple Heart for injuries he sustained in captivity.
He returned to Clarksburg after WWII where he worked for Hazel Atlas Glass until 1960 when he moved his family to Orlando, FL and worked for Crown Cork
and Seal located in Orlando. He later retired and in 1990 he went to live with his son in Las Vegas, NV where he passed away in 1991. John kept extensive notes on
his life. He struggled for many years before obtaining fair compensation for his time in captivity
