Akari is Hikaru's neighbour and close childhood friend. Akari often hangs out and follows Hikaru around, though Hikaru rarely appreciates her company. Akari began to show interest in Go when seeing Hikaru plays Go.

Beforehand, Akari was unable to differentiate Go from Othello. However she didn't give up and continue to learn. She devoted herself to Go and the Go club, following Hikaru's footstep. Akari also brought her friend, Tsuda to join the club, hoping that one day she would able to join the tournament.

Personality

Akari is cheerful and friendly girl. She gets along with people easily and everyone enjoys her company.... Minus Hikaru. Though I feel that maybe becoz Hikaru and Akari are very close friends, and they knew each other for a long time, that's why hikaru is a little rough to her. But Akari certainly doesn't mind it.
