UPGRADED TNG IMPULSE ENGINES by terrya March 18,2004 STARTING WITH THE FIF SERIES IN STARFLEETS CASE WE KNOW THAT THE GALAXY CLASS HAS AT LEAST THREE LARGE IMPULSE ENGINES { THE BLUE PRINTS INDICATE SHE HAS AT LEAST SIX SMALLER IMPULSE ENGINES WHO TOGETHER GIVE THE SHIP IT IMPRESSIVE IMPULSE POWER I HAVE IN MY DESIGNS CHOSEN TO SAY THAT YOU CAN HAVE SAY FOUR FIF-3 IMPULSE ENGINES GIVING 80 POWER UNITS OR ONE FIF-6 IMPULSE UNIT GIVING 32 POWER UNITS THE FIF-6 SHOWS STARFLEET UPGRADED THE ENGINE OVER THE LAST FEW DECADES SO THE STATS CAN STILL BE USED BUT WITH COMMMON IMPROVEMENTS TO THE SYSTEM OVER THE LAST 80 years. I stayed away from FITTING 8 fig-3 TO A HULL BECAUSE OF THE HUGE SPACE THIS WOULD FILL ON A SHIP BUT I DID DO SOME WITH 6 and 8 of the FIF-3 IMPULSE UNIT . Anyway we can do the following with any ship as of STARTREK NEMISIS. 1 2 3 4 6 or even 8 Impulse units of smaller size on larger ships than would be normaly used .THIS creates redundancy systems for a ship that travels in deep space it would only be logical. THE ENTERPRISE 1701 E could have 2 large or 4smaller or even 8 smaller that together equal 2 larger units. EXCELSIOR CLASS 1 large or 2 smaller or 4 smaller say 1 fig-5 or 2 fif-3 or 4 fif-1 or 6 fie 6 ect the combinations are pretty endless .THIS CREATES A lot of varioty in all aspects. AS OF ENTERPRISE 1701 d I desided to declare the following so that the old stats could be used in the modern trek universe .THE FWA SERIES and all the larger engines to THE TIME OF CAPTAIN PICARDS TIME .are all updated to warp 11 cruise and 13 emergency.SINCE PICARDS ENTERPRISE CAN DO acording to the charts. warp 11.8 and 14.3 this keeps most of starfleet from going too fast between the time of 1701 D and 1701 E which is suppose to do around WARP 16.And between the time of 1701D and E you can play that new engines with faster speeds were developed.13/14 13/16 14/15 12/15 13/1615/16 ect.You can also go further by updating the stress charts,which I didnt do.By not updating the stress charts on older engines you can see big differences between older and newer designs but also use them on the same ships together in a fleet . I LIKE VARIOUTY IN THE SHIPS I DESIGN.Hence the baker class turning at warp 12 with fwe-2 engines is going to hurt more than the enterprise with fwg-1 warp engines at warp 12. # COLLIMITER RULE. The lines going from left to right that are the fhaser arrays in this rule are actually just a light mass of fhaser emmiters just like the emitter on the hand fhaser. in this case the arrays are connected to a central power conduct that is connected to the individual fhasers.IN my rule one single fhaser unit is connected to one fhaser array .more can be added if you dont have a array for each ship fhaser. THE collimitter lets a starship fire 360 edgrees all around a ship thus with a central power distribution center conduct leading to all fhasers and all arrays,this lets a ship with even one fhaser fire that fhaser through any of its collimiters.And as a result so long as it gets power and is not damaged.the one fhaser can defend the ship . That is what the collimitter is for or you can do it differently.ALLWAYS THINK VARIATY .IT keeps the game interestiing.AND DONT FORGET WITH 150 FULL MEMBER WORLDS AND ABOUT OTHER WORLDS WITH LESSER MEMBERSHIP LEVELS THATS ABOUT 500 planetary systems that can fund a very large FLEET. THE OLD FASA BOOK SAID about 15,000 capitol ships and 32.000 auxilary vesssels. SINCE THE DOMINION WAR, AND THE UPROAR ABOUT THE 2800 Reinforcements ,and the heavy losses starfleet would be wanted to be strengthened enough so this problem could not happen easily again. I WOULD ESTIMATE THAT STARFLEET WOULD WANT TO EXPAND THE FLEET TO ABOUT 25,000 CAPITOL SHIPS .MAYBE 22,000.
