Great quantity of solar energy can be produced from a solar furnace as this.

This solar furnace has great possibilities because it can be much great if it's constructed with a big hole in the

ground.

It can be closed with a great lens(together with a cap to protect it from bad weather and dust) to have a solar

thermal energy efficiency around 90%.

If it uses the reflection with aluminum then it's around 60-70%.

A big hole in the ground having a ray around 1000 m. receives around 12 million kwh of solar energy per day

(Spain, Italy) that is 4 billion kwh per year!

It is able to produce around 1-1.5 billion kwh of electric energy per year! It has the same energy of 400.000

tonnes of oil, it's an oil well forever!!!

Sodium chloride in order to constantly produce solar energy

Sodium chloride stores around 250 kwh/m3 through its heat of fusion, this means that one can use 250

kwh per m3 of salt without decreasing its temperature.

So one can produce constant electric energy from the solar thermal energy stored in the salt.

The salt has been placed at the center of this big hole.

Heat of fusion of NaCl= 25.2 kj/mol   Density of NaCl=2.160 kg/dm3 

1 m3 of salt weights 2160 kg.       1 mol of salt weights 58.44 g.

1 m3 of salt contains 2160/0.05844 mol = 36961 mol

Heat of fusion of 1 m3 of NaCl = 36961 * 25.2 = 931417 kj = 259 kwh!!!

Million of tonnes of salt have a good volume to be placed at the center of this big hole in the ground.

Our big solar furnace, with 5-6 million of tonnes of salt, would produce electric energy from

January to December (Italy and Spain) constantly, considering that it stores 300 million/1 billion of electric

kwh!

A lot of salt is needed for these furnaces, but this is not a problem since there are  salt mines that

have billion of tonnes of salt and some of these salt mines are located just in nations as Italy and Spain .
